Some of the blogs here at Families.com are beginning to incorporate Question and Answer sections or advice columns into their regular offerings. Would you like to see something similar here in the Home Blog?
You can respond by either leaving a comment or sending a private message. Marjorie, Michele, and I can put our heads together or research the answers to your questions, or we could each offer tips and advice.
This is how it might work:
- If you have a question, you would send a private message or email.
- We would use your question in an upcoming article, but would not use your name (unless you want us to do so).
- We would then research the topic and provide answers and helpful resources.
- Others may comment on the article, offering their personal solutions to such questions.
- We could also start a forum thread for further discussion.
*If you have other comments or suggestions for such a feature, please don’t hesitate to offer your ideas.
Here’s an example, based on a question I was asked recently (which I answered privately).
Question: The burners on my stove are impossible to clean. The grease build up and what not never seems to want to come off no matter what I do or use to clean them. Any suggestions?
Answer: For intense build up, ammonia may be your best solution. Mix a strong concentration of ammonia, 3 parts ammonia to one part water, in a container large enough to hold your burners. Place them inside, cover with a plastic trash bag, and leave for several hours or overnight. In the morning, fill the sink with hot water and set them inside. You should be able to wipe them clean.
*Note: ammonia has strong fumes, so use in a ventilated area if possible. Never mix ammonia with other cleaning solutions, because the reaction can be dangerous.
