Yoga DVD: Lilas AM & PM Yoga Workout for Seniors

A growing number of seniors are embracing yoga for its health and rejuvenation benefits. Senior yoga classes are being held in studios and community centers across the country. DVDs are also available for seniors who want to practice at home.

Lilas! AM & PM Yoga Workout for Seniors is a DVD that is specifically designed for seniors. The program is designed to help senior enjoy the many health, emotional and spiritual benefit of yoga.

The DVD contains two practices, one for the morning and one for nighttime. The morning practice is designed to increase energy, build strength, improve circulation and get you up and moving to start the day off right. The asanas in this practice are designed to enhance flexibility, vitality, improve circulation and clear the mind.

The PM yoga workout is designed to calm the nerves, sooth the body and help you get to sleep easily. This practice is designed to stretch the entire body, improve joint health and reduce stress. The AM and PM workouts each last about thirty minutes, which is just the right amount of time to easily fit it into your schedule.

Both practices use seated poses exclusively. This is great for seniors that have limited balance and strength and find standing poses too difficult. Others may find it not challenging enough, particularly if they are in good health and have some experience with yoga.

One common criticism of this DVD is the level of instruction and talking from Lilas. This is a matter of personal preference. Some people enjoy the detailed instructions and explanation and others are annoyed by the talking. Beginners may find the explanations helpful to the practice and gaining a deeper understanding of yoga, but if you have been doing yoga for a while and prefer less talking, you may get annoyed by this.

All new students to yoga or any other form of exercise are always advised to check with the doctor before beginning any new fitness routine. This may be even more important for seniors with health concerns or conditions. Many doctors are embracing the benefits of yoga and regularly recommend the practice to patients. Check with your doctor about how yoga can benefit you.
