Young Women in Excellence

The Young Women’s in Excellence program is usually presented sometime during the fall. This is a special program held once each year. Parents are invited to attend. The basic outline to the program is very similar to New Beginnings. The young women will briefly review the different values and the meanings, and then there will usually be a speaker or two, as well as musical numbers. Generally the dress is Sunday dress for the activity.

One part of Young Women in Excellence is that it is a chance for the Young Women to showcase the different projects that they have worked on for the year. Tables are set up for each value and young women are invited to bring something that represents a goal or project that they have completed for the project. This has two purposes: it allows the young woman to shine, and it gives other young women ideas for what they want to do for their own projects.

This is a truly special night for the Young Women, and parents are encouraged to attend to support their daughters. If you have a daughter in the young women’s program, but are not active or not a member yourself, you should still try to attend to support your daughter. You can learn a little bit about what your daughter is doing and believes in, and be showing her support in the choices that she is making.

This is a great time to review your daughter’s Personal Progress with her. You can sit down and make goals in order to achieve the Young Women’s medallion. She may be surprised to see how much she has accomplished. This may encourage her to keep working towards the goal. As you do this, be supportive, and refrain from being critical of her efforts. Personal Progress should be a positive experience in every aspect.
