I know for myself the first time my oldest passed out the sacrament a few weeks ago was such a wonderful day. I was so proud of him and that he was able to do this. I know he was so nervous but he did so well. Young Men: Preparing Your Son for his Mission - Blog Entry13 Jun 2006 04:38 PM My boys (ages 12 & 9) were so excited about their recent baptism and the fact that when they get older they can go on a mission. We went and bought two money boxes and we put every spare cent into them when we can. I hope that their enthusiasm is still there when they reach their late teens. Young Men: Becoming Home Teachers - Blog Entry13 Jun 2006 04:35 PM This is wonderful to learn about. We were inactive members, well I was my boys never really went to church. So everything is really NEW to us. Thankyou for blogging this. I have so much to learn!! I have so many things to look forward too even though my oldest is a year away from becoming a teacher. Three Myths About Raising a Special Needs Child - Blog Entry13 Jun 2006 04:30 PM I totally agree with what you've put there. I used to think that I was alone and that there was nothing I could do for my boys but now I know better. Things are still challenging at times but we certainly have plenty of happy moments too. Even though there are still times where I am pulling my hair out with frustration I wouldn't change it for the world. I have two very special boys and they mean everything to me! Judging Others - Blog Entry13 Jun 2006 04:24 PM I love your idea of giving people compliments. I am certainly going to concentrate on this aspect a lot more starting with my family!! I know how I get a kick out of it if someone says something nice to me and repaying that to others is a great thing! Music Resources Available at www.lds.org - Blog Entry07 Jun 2006 12:12 AM I've checked out the Gospel Library and I have found it very useful. We've even mage a few CD's of Hymns and Children's songs so that we can play them on our travels to and from the Chapel on Sundays. I think its a great way for my youngest to learn the songs for primary. We also use the site as part of our FHE when we sing a hymn at the beginning. New LDS Website - Blog Entry07 Jun 2006 12:04 AM I've been checking out the new site since last night. Itsmuch easier to navigate & I love the new drop down menu at the top of the page. I'm still exploring! New LDS Gems Subscriptions Available - Blog Entry07 Jun 2006 12:02 AM Thanks for the link to the Gems section of the LDS site. I didn't realise that there were so many other "Gems' available. I've signed up for a couple more. Just How Open Should We Be with Our Special Needs Kids? - Blog Entry31 May 2006 11:38 PM I completely understand where you are coming from with this. I face this dilemma myself. While both my sons have ADHD, my oldest has Asperger's Syndrome and epilepsy aswell. The schools Guidance Officer also suggested we look at ODD (Oppositional Defiant Disorder). I often wonder how much to I tell my oldest, he's almost 13. He's at that stage where he is very conscious of what others think and he just wants to fit in like everyone else. I wonder if I tell him too much will he see this as an excuse for his behaviour. I certainly hope he doesn't. The Waters of Baptism - Blog Entry19 Apr 2006 03:47 AM I am so glad that your niece was able to be baptised on such a special day. My boys are being baprised this Friday evening and I cannot wait. It's such a special & wonderful feeling seeing people you love choosing to be baptised. |
