When the Answer Is No08 Jul 2007 01:52 AM This is one of the hardest things to learn isn't it. My oldest (he's 13) asked me the other day something about this very topic. I explained to him the best way I could that sometimes the answer to our prayers is No. We may not like it but we are told No for a reason. We may not understand the reasoning behind it. Perhaps we might one day just not right now. We just need to accept Heavenly Fathers decision & hopefully learn. What Is Sunday Best?08 Jul 2007 12:58 AM While dressing up & dressing modestly for Sunday (or any day for that matter) shows that we have some pride in ourselves and that we are showing that we care for our Saviour. I also believe that it is very important to also feel comfortable. There is nothing worse than dressing up in your best clothes and your best shoes if you do not feel comfortable while wearing them. I also think it depends on your calling also. I work in nursery and although I do dress up I make sure that I am suitably dressed for looking after our little group of children. There is no use me wearing my high heels to look good as they would be inappropriate to wear in nursery. As any Mum would know heels aren't good when working/playing with little ones. Sorry if I am off on a tangent. You are right though. It doesn't always matter what you wear on the outside it is whats on the inside that counts too. Take Advantage of Your Church Library!16 Feb 2007 07:34 PM We were fortunate that the library in our ward was moved to a different part of the chapel so there was a big clean out of the older resources. I wasn't able to get any manual like I was hoping however I did get a lot of the older ensign magazines. The Mechanics of a Sacrament Talk01 Feb 2007 11:20 PM Thank you for the tips. I am so glad that my boys have never said these things but I am sure that they will find something to say during sacrament when everyone else is quiet, reverent and reflective. Read the Instructions!08 Jan 2007 01:43 AM We had a message in our Ward newsletter this week saying that there are old books & manuals from the library that are available for everyone to help themselves to. I was so looking forward to going through the boxes to see what was available but when I checked the foyer there were none there. We had to leave early yesterday because one of my boys was ill but I do hope that they books are available for us next wee. I would love to take some of the older manuals home to read & treasure. General Conference: "The Law of Tithing"08 Jan 2007 01:38 AM I too was thinking about the tithing slips but we didn't need to bother with not having them. Our Bishop gave us a printed copy of the tithing amounts we have paid so we had a hard copy for our records. |
