Luckily no issues yet with my kids and insurance. Bonnie http://autismfamilies.gather.com Gift Cards With A Twist - Blog Entry16 Sep 2006 05:57 PM I got something like this at Ace where I do the quick payday loans. I did not want to have to drive to bank to deposit money with two kids in tow and the gas prices - all to make a payment over the phone for my auto insurance so I paid the $10 for the card and then they take like $2 out for each usage. I would not recommend these to anyone trying to improve their credit. "Your kid is HOW old?" Guiding Your Child To Age-Appropriate Behaviors - Blog Entry16 Sep 2006 05:41 PM I am contemplating this issue now with my 11 year old fifth grader. The kids are bringing their pokemon cards and now he wants them. We had them and sold them on ebay a few years ago and since next year is middle school I would rather he not engage in this hobby again. Actually I saw that kids his age were into Yugioh cards and he was not so I bought some for him and that got him started several years ago. The same with the gameboy advance, got it for him for XMAS and he has about 7 games but not too interested in it. Bonnie http://autismfamilies.gather.com Swim, Laugh, and Thrive With Dolphins! - Blog Entry10 Aug 2006 07:06 PM my 11 year old son Nicholas liked the photo of the dolphin and it sure looks like some really blue water (first photo). He said that dolphins work well with kids with autism, something he knows from all his reading. He has a pen pal now too, who is also 11 and on the spectrum, wrote the book - sundays with Matthew. I always thought that the parent has to suit up and go in the water and with my eczema there is no way I can put my skin through that, so I told Nick the other day maybe when he is 16, but now maybe next spring break when we go to Sea World again, although he wants to go in December! Bonnie http://autismfamily.gather.com The Old Spaghetti Factory - Blog Entry10 Aug 2006 06:19 PM When I first moved to California in 1985 I lived down the street from the Old Spaghetti Factory in Hollywood near Gower Studios. Went there the first night and many afternoons for lunch. Nice to hear of their prices. Might have to go there one day when kids go back to school! Bonnie http://autismfamilies.gather.com Stay Cool and Chic in the Summer Heat - Blog Entry06 Aug 2006 04:31 PM The heat wave lasted a lot longer in CA. We had 17 days of over 90 degree temsp for downtown Los Angeles. Hottest July on record. Now back to 80 degree temps, very manageable. I keep my cortisone creams in the refrigerator and a jar of ponds. It feels so refreshing and soothes my skin. Bonnie http://autismsfamilies.gather.com Creamed Spinach On The Stovetop - Blog Entry06 Aug 2006 01:30 PM SOunds good. I saw Rachel Ray the other day squeezing the water out of boxes of spinach using a towel. It looked odd, but anyway I don't like cream cheese, any ideas on if I need to substitute that or do without it? Thanks Bonnie Sayers http://autismfamilies.gather.com Household Product Alert--Dryer Sheets - Blog Entry05 Aug 2006 10:40 AM As someone with eczema I have never used dryer sheets and would not use them for baby clothes considering how rampant eczema is in babies these days. Just another irritant no one needs touching their clothes and skin. Bonnie Sayers Monte Cristo Sandwich - Blog Entry03 Aug 2006 06:23 PM Thanks Cathy. Either IHOP or Denny's is the only place I know that makes these. Bonnie |
