A Special Kind of Love - Blog Entry29 Jul 2006 11:37 AM I think this is the couple I saw last year on the Jane Pauley show with their Mothers. Very nice story and encouraging for families. Bonnie Sayers http://autismspectrumdisorders.bellaonline.com Why I Love Torey Hayden's Books - Blog Entry28 Jul 2006 08:29 PM I didn't like Murphy's Boy too much and then sold the other books on ebay since I found it hard to keep up with all the characters. It was interesting but required too much concentration on my part. There is a series of books out now that I found in the teen section while doing a search at the library that I have on my amazon wish list. The case of the prank that stank #1. http://www.epinions.com/content_163171896964 Did you read the babysitters club - kristy and the secret of susan The author of that series wrote a book about autism called Inside Out http://www.epinions.com/content_130880343684 And Don't Bring Jeremy is one of my favorite young teen books - http://www.epinions.com/content_65232342660 Bonnie What Happened at Kyle's IEP Meeting - Blog Entry28 Jul 2006 08:14 PM What age did you start having your son attend his IEP meetings? I am thinking this new school year I will for my son who will be in the fifth grade. Bonnie Planning for Emergencies at School - Blog Entry28 Jul 2006 02:16 PM my kids school has a form that indicates what they must supply for emergencies and it goes inside a large ziplock and has a label with identifying information and they request families submit a family photo and write a letter or card to child. When my kids were at the same school I would mention that in the letter and say I will be there soon and enjoy eating whatever it was in the container and to read a book in the classroom, etc. I also gave the school office a case of ensure plus to have on hand. Bonnie Sayers Payday Loans for Times When Cash is Short - Blog Entry28 Jul 2006 02:09 PM I am in that cycle due to having car repairs three times in the past 6 weeks. I would not be able to feed my kids or pay a few bills if not for the ACE cash express I use. I pay $15 for $100 and the maximum to borrow is $255. I just made a payment back today of $253. As someone with a bankruptcy and living on SSI and IHSS with special needs kids and no other support this is a necessary outlet for me. I got stuck in the cycle last year and once I got my income tax refund it broke and just started up again. It is a temp fix to get by for those of us who are either feast or famine. The corner market allows me to charge up to $20 and I feel more embarassed doing that than going to the check cashing place. My neighbor goes there to help with his funds each month too since his wife is disabled. One time I was not sure my check would arrive in time to make payment, and they gave me two extra days, but turned out my check came that afternoon and I made the payment. My wish is that this would show up on credit report since I have paid them all back before due date. When you are the sole bread winner and have no other means of support, this is something instead of nothing. Bonnie Sayers Freezer Cooking Easy Family Favorites - Blog Entry26 Jul 2006 08:47 PM Who uses their oven in the summer time - guess those that have power and central air? Seems to be all these stew and soup recipes and nothing about cold sandwiches and summer dishes. Bonnie Estate Planning and Collections - Blog Entry22 Jul 2006 03:56 PM OT - Do you have any experience with Special Needs Trusts? I need to do it for my kids and hear it costs a lot of money. Bonnie Is Your Child Safe in Your Neighborhood? - Blog Entry22 Jul 2006 02:25 PM The LAPD has crime maps where you can monitor what happens in your area online. The Megan's law website also has search options to see who lives in your neighborhood. Would be useful to include links in this blog. Bonnie Sayers The Search Notebook - Blog Entry22 Jul 2006 01:59 PM Is this for adoptees or birth parents? Bonnie Sayers Tips for Making the Most of Your Trampoline - Blog Entry21 Jul 2006 04:41 PM FYI - I believe I read an article in this section before about trampolines, commented on it about safety and insurance issues and then the Insurance blogger wrote something, might want to reference those here for readers to know the dangers and insurance risks of using a trampoline.
