My thought is that what my hubby and I have, consecrated because of our covenant, is a real blessing; so much so that I would not feel the need to "brag" about it in order to defend it. Thank you for posting this, Sherry! Body Image or Self Image? Why Your Self-Concept Matters in Weight Loss - Blog Entry07 Sep 2006 07:25 PM Oy, vey, Catherine! THIS is real food for thought for me! I struggle with this ALL the time, and always have. The concept of my identity being separate from my body image is a still-unheard concept within my "inner tribunal". What I mean is, it's so hard to separate the two! I know I am intelligent, articulate and any number of adjectives---but accepting that I am beautiful regardless of my weight and size is STILL a huge obstacle to overcome. I am happy to be reminded that I, again, am not the only one who struggles with this!! I hope that, when I will be able to reconcile the two when I "grow up". In the meantime, I will do my best to try to remember it, and support all the other beautiful ladies out there to realize that their beauty is not defined by their size. Bless you for this reminder!! :) We Are Our Kids' Role Models - Blog Entry07 Sep 2006 05:08 PM Thank you for this important reminder--we've been doing okay with these things, but things can always be improved! The biggest one I have to remember is living the example (with how I deal with others) I want Channi and Keanan to live. I already feel like I have a lot to answer for come judgement day, that's just one less thing I could do without having to explain!! :) Thanks for writing this! Dedicating Children - Blog Entry07 Sep 2006 05:02 PM It was very interesting to read your blog on your sons' dedication. I had attended many baptisms, as they are performed during our regular church services, but never dedications. We had our two children baptized very early in their lives--Chandler was 20 days old, and Keanan was 5 days old. It was very important to my husband and I that our children were baptized as soon as possible after birth, so that the Holy Spirit could begin His work within their hearts to make them aware of who they belonged to. They each received a baptism banner, reminding them that they have been called by God to be His, a candle to light on their baptism anniversary (Christmas Eve for both of them) to remind us of Jesus' light in the world, and their baptism certificate. Also the quilting ladies in our church give each baby and child a quilt they have made. It's very lovely to have those. It's been wonderful to see how those seeds, planted in their hearts on their baptism days, have grown and begun to bear fruit. Chandler has always loved to sing Jesus songs and pray, and reads the Bible voraciously. She also had taken the step of being saved, when she was about 6. Keanan talks about Jesus in his heart, and loves to hear Bible stories, as well. And they BOTH love going to church and Sunday school. :) Thank you for sharing your story. Chicken With Herbed Cheese in Puffed Pastry - Blog Entry07 Sep 2006 02:49 PM This sounds VERY yummy--I'm sure my hubby and kidlets will love it!! :) Sausage and Waffles-The Keys To A Long Life? - Blog Entry07 Sep 2006 09:49 AM I LOVE reading stories like this!! It always makes me giggle uncontrollably when the so called "experts" are wrong about things like how we're supposed to live our lives to prolong our lives. Thank you for sharing this, Michele! Become an Ordained Minister Online? - Blog Entry05 Sep 2006 08:49 PM I suppose if a person is not of the belief system that marriage is ordained by God, and therefore the marriage ceremony should be consequently performed by a called and (properly--as in completion of graduate school) ordained minister, I guess it shouldn't really matter if a person performing their marriage ceremony got a "quickie" ordination online. That was certainly not, and would never be, my choice in that situation. Things You'll Never Hear Your Spouse Say - Blog Entry05 Sep 2006 08:22 PM Wow, I must be married to an exotic species, cos my husband says (and has said) most of those things on a regular basis (with the exception of the "let's go shopping" one)..and I'm the weirdo in our marriage saying "pull my finger...LOL It must be love, after 12 years of wedded bliss! :) |
