Although we promised her a party for her friends in Israel in the summer, we could not let the actual event go uncelebrated. On that Wednesday she brought donuts to school to share with her friends and that Shabbat, Rosh Chodesh Shvat, the three girls from her class slept over for Shabbat. Starting right after Thanksgiving the country goes into christmas mode. Anyone who says America is NOT a Christian country should spend December here. We drove down to Monterey, which is a beautiful city on the coast of California ( http://www.monterey.com/ ) and home to Cannery Row, which was immortalized by John Steinbeck in his 1945 novel, Cannery Row ( http://www.steinbeck.org/MainFrame.html ).
