08 Nov 2006 02:51 PM King of the RoadWell, I passed my driving test today! I am so glad to have that behind me. If I never take another road test in my life it will be too soon! Actually, I had a bit of a fadicha with my test. I made my appointment online for this past Monday but for some reason was under the impression that my appointment was on Tuesday. So yup, I missed the appointment. And when I went to make a new appointment, there weren't any available for 3 weeks! And I could not wait so long â?? I was totally stressing out. Luckily, there was an appointment today in a different location so I got it over with. Sof tov hakol tov. Also, I've been accepted to graduate school. So I guess I have no excuses. I will take two core classes in January and see how it goes â?? if I like the subject, if I can handle being a student again, and the workload. It is supposedly not an easy program. Most of the courses are online so I hope I will be disciplined enough to do the work and not play scrabble online (or check my e-mail). I am volunteering in Maor's school on Tuesdays in the library. I've been twice so far and it's nice to have the opportunity to be involved. I am looking into other volunteer opportunities or part time work but am being very picky about it. Arthur is traveling and is currently in Texas at a trade show. Unfortunately, he had to leave San Jose on Friday morning so he wasn't home for Shabbat. It was not like being alone in Zufim where there are friends and neighbors to be with. We were invited out for Shabbat lunch and it was nice but it's not the same. Maor has started a gymnastics class once a week and seems to like it so far. It is different from what she was doing in Israel since they use equipment (apparatus) as well as just floor exercises. A friend from her class may sign up as well. We have started thinking about Maor's bat mitzvah but have not decided yet what we are doing. Details will follow. Maor is home from school today as she isn't feeling well. She is parked in front of the television right now. We broke down and got very limited cable which is supposed to be only the basic channels. It is much cheaper and they are required by law to provide a basic package because we cannot register channels at all without some sort of package. Unfortunately, even this basic package has too much for my liking. I love vegging out in front of the tv, but unfortunately so does Maor. For me, you can practically watch either one of the Law & Order series or CSI series round the clock. And MASH is on late at night too so it's really great. Signing off for now. Thought for the day: Have you ever noticed? Anybody going slower than you is an idiot, and anyone going faster than you is a maniac.
