The Unbeliever and Christians Today

There seems to be a common misconception among many non-believers that they don’t need God because they’re doing just fine on their own. Many of these same people believe too that it is those who are “good” that make it into heaven. Of course, the truth is, sin is sin, and on our own none of us are “good enough” to deserve to be in the presence and glory of God who is perfect and holy. That is why we need Jesus and the gift of his sacrifice. It’s His blood that covers us just like the lamb’s blood did … Continue reading

Living with Regrets

Many walk in shame and embarrassment from their past wrong doings. I want you to know if you have repented, God’s desire is not to condemn you (Romans 8:1-3). If you’re feeling condemnation, you need to recognize the enemy of your soul and rebuke him. I want you to please look at Psalm 103:10-13: “He has not dealt with us according to our sins, nor punished us according to our iniquities. For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is His mercy toward those who fear Him; as far as the east is from the west, so … Continue reading

Help for Those Married to an Unbelieving Spouse- Part 2

Yesterday we looked at some ideas for what to do if married to an unbelieving spouse. Some others to consider implementing are: Be careful in what you share with your partner and how. Be careful in what you share with your partner and how. Yes, I think you should share your prayers and praise points with your spouse but, and it is a big but, don’t overwhelm them so they feel that is all you ever talk about. Sometimes Christians desirous of seeing someone they love come to faith have a tendency to jump in and want to turn every … Continue reading

Visiting Teaching Message – March 2008

When the Ensign Magazine arrives each month, a full page is devoted to the message that we as visiting teachers should deliver to our assigned sisters. This issue, however, does not have such a page. Instead, we are encouraged to read the magazine and determine for ourselves which article we feel is most appropriate for our sisters, or which one appeals to us most. The magazine offers many inspirational choices. I mention just a few of them here. “He Lives! The Witness of Latter-Day Prophets” features a quote from each of our prophets, testifying of their knowledge of the divinity … Continue reading

The Body of Christ

The body of Christ is a wonderful metaphor used by Paul in 1 Corinthians chapter 12 to describe the church. He shows that each body part has a role. Each one of these parts is useful in helping the body of Christ function properly. “But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, to another … Continue reading

Guiding a Loved One to the Cross

It can be a hard as a Christian when someone you love has not accepted Jesus’ gift to us which is salvation. Unless the person has really hit rock bottom, it’s less likely they will be open to being preached to–however, this doesn’t mean the seeds you sow in their life will be in vain. Not being able to have your loved one share in your joy can be disheartening. “Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted.” (Galatians … Continue reading

The Divinity of Jesus Christ

With the advent of many books into the market, such as The DaVinci Code (which I enjoyed), The Last Templar (which I mostly enjoyed) and on and on and on, the divinity of Christ has been called into question so much that some Christian sects are backing off, they are now saying that Jesus Christ is not God. I am deeply saddened by this. Our Lord and Savior condescended to come to this earth as a mortal babe. He grew into adulthood with parents that loved and accepted Him and brothers who struggled with that same knowledge. At thirty years … Continue reading
