The days of people having a bowl of oatmeal and a piece of fruit for breakfast are long gone and now they're eating "milk and cereal bars" (which don't have a bit of milk in them at all! You're right. If we weren't eating refined breads but having unrefined grains (in their proper serving sizes), it might make a difference. Weight a Minute! I know that when I'm at home, any given hour will include a baby crying and needing to be either fed or changed, a toddler wanting me to play with him and a husband asking me "what's for breakfast/lunch/dinner?" FYI I run away to the public library for quiet time on Saturday mornings. I get my time away and my DH gets a taste of what I live with while he's at work ;-) The library provides a quiet place where nobody will bother me, no cellphones will be ringing and I can sit in front of a sunny window and just be quiet if I want to. Oddly enough, the first time I saw him, my heart really did skip a beat. As it turned out, he filled the whole laundry list and then some. I might add that the quality on the top of my list was "Makes me laugh". I think that is the most important one for someone you want to grow old with because the looks and body can get worse with age but a sense of humor is forever! You could easily continue with the program throughout your pregnancy provided you don't have any medical issues that might preclude it. (Just add a some milk products to the usual food choices and you should be all set.) The only reason I stopped BfL when I became pregnant this time was because I had terrible migraines and morning sickness for several months. Workouts became impossible and my cravings for starch and dairy foods became too overwhelming. BTW the protein shakes and bars were a Godsend for me through this pregnancy. They were light enough to stay down but had enough substance to keep me and the baby healthy regardless of the cravings I gave in to. Each year, if I play my cards right, I'm done with Christmas shopping well before Thanksgiving and never need to set foot into a store after Black Friday. Does Your Baby Snack All Day? - Blog Entry08 Dec 2007 05:35 AM I've done the same thing with my son (now 3) and I think it is absolutely the healthiest way to go. As a child, I was required to eat on schedule and eat everything on my plate whether I was hungry or not. We now know this is not the best way to go (I've always had weight problems). I'm happy to say that my son loves fruits, veggies and high protein snacks and can't be bothered with sweets. When he isn't hungry any more, he stops eating.
