Here's a little trick I use:

If you don't have a brick handy to pop in the toilet tank, fill a 2 liter pop bottle with water and set it in there. It will stay in place since it is full of water, your toilet will still flush fine and you'll be saving over a gallon of water with every two flushes!

I've always felt this way about food. Friends in need get food and then a shoulder to lean on. Loved ones get fat during the holidays. "Food is love" is something I've struggled with in past years simply because when I needed something for my soul, I've turned to food.

Feeding for the soul is a great way to share our talents and creativity with loved ones, but people like me need to be careful not to turn to the dark side of this coin. :-)

How sad for your friend.

I came to motherhood late too. I was 37 when my son was born. Unlike your friend, I am enjoying every moment - even the tantrums can be funny. In my case, I feel that my age, experience and lifestyle have allowed me to be much more zen about the experience and really appreciate every moment of it. I understand how quickly it will all slip away and I want to remember every single moment without regret.

I love this movie! (And not just because Sean Connery is dishy in the hair & beard!) It is a great movie to create an opening to talk to teens (who never lived through it) about the Cold War and what it meant to the world. Not only entertaining but very educational as well. Thanks for the review!

Great article.

I did some selling some time ago and had a regular customer who always paid with cash on delivery. She was a great customer for many months. One day I stopped by to make my delivery and she was out. Silly me, I left the product thinking that I could stop by later for the cash and she'd be good for it as she'd always been.

Well, she never answered her door again and always let her machine get her phone calls after that. Never underestimate the amount of energy a person will exert to get something for nothing even if it is at your cost.
