What if My Baby Can't Latch? - Blog Entry

03 Apr 2006 02:14 AM

drain83's story is mine too! I tried and tried and got so stressed out. The little guy was SO frustrated. My memories of trying to nurse are filled with his screaming and my pain (both physical and emotional). I never felt worse about myself. Then mastitis hit. I fought it, but I finally just passed out one day. For a few moments, there was peace. ;-) Then months of lanolin to heal the wounds...

The Miracle of the Breast Pump - Blog Entry

Great article - so true! My son and I never got the nursing thing right but I was determined he'd get breast milk. Expressing milk was far more time consuming than just nursing, but knowing he was getting the benefit of milk made just for him really helped to relieve my guilt over not being able to nurse.

Scientology vs. South Park - Blog Entry

I have to agree with Kevin. South Park has always criticized EVERYTHING. At the risk of sounding like I've completely lost it, I have to say they've actually done some pretty deep stuff (under many layers of trash comedy) that has made me stop and think about (oy) the way I think!

Hayes is hypocrite if he can stand by for 9 years while other religions get bashed and not be able to take a few hits for his own team. Get a grip, dude!

Honestly, I think Tom Cruise has really gone off the deep end over this past year. The man has been a PR nightmare and made himself a laughing stock. There was the jumping on Oprah's couch and then the criticizing of mothers with postpartum depression. The guy looks like a complete nutbag - and a real jerk to boot. I'd be relieved if he didn't promote MI3 - his antics are getting old.

Since John Travolta has been mentioned here, I have to say that is one guy who I really think is a class act. He's like the opposite side of Cruise's coin. He is always respectful, doesn't force his religion down others' throats and just comes off as a NICE guy no matter what he does. He's the kid of guy that anybody would enjoy sitting down to dinner with (and most ladies would die to dance with).

Eating-for-Life (on the Body-for-Life Program) - Blog Entry

The high sugar content in most fruits seems to work against most people who are trying to lose weight and make major changes in their bodies. (That sugar content also makes most fruit higher in calories than the same amount of bulk would with any given vegetable.) Personally, I can give up high sugar grapes and strawberries if I have motivation enough. Finally reaching a goal weight without feeling starved is particularly motivating for me.

New Face of Islam -- Blogger Intro - Blog Entry

There are so many misconceptions about Islam! Islam is one of the largest religions in the world and is the primary religion of many countries, particularly in the Middle East.

What so many people forget is that countries and regions have their own social culture and traditions. It really bugs me when people just assume (or worse yet, take the media's word for it) that any unsavory thing done by a Muslim is due to Islam when, in fact, it could be a cultural issue, a desert or bedouin tradition or just some nutbag with a vendetta!

I spent six months living in Turkey and found the people there (primarily Muslim) to be some of the most gracious, hospitable and peaceful people I've ever known.

We westerners have so much to learn about the rest of the world! Thank you for being here to provide us lessons in Social Studies as well as religion!

Muslim Dating -- Or Not! - Blog Entry

There are still many areas in the world where dowrys ("Bride Gifts" or "Bride Price") are given to the bride's family or to the bride herself. (Yes, there are Middle Eastern and Asian women who are given a gift of property, money or jewelry prior to marriage which is maintained solely as the woman's property throughout her marriage.)

Sadly, not everyone's language skills are the best and rather than describing the tradition, which doesn't always translate to English, someone with limited English will simply say that they "bought" their wife.

Angelina Jolie - Home Wrecker? - Blog Entry

OK, first of all, Angie has much more than motherhood going for her. The girl is drop dead gorgeous! Whether or not she tries to do it, she is to men what the Pied Piper was to rats. Those poor things can't help but follow her home!

Second, have you seen Mr & Mrs Smith? There had to be quite a bit of adrenaline on that set what with all the fighting and gunfire - and that's always a turn-on.

I'm sure Jennifer will be fine. There are at least a million American men lining up to console her but they'll need luck and serious skills to get past that 6'5" cool drink of Minnesota water, Vince Vaughn.

Dish it, Libby! I've always loved Liz Taylor. I saw "Liz: The Elizabeth Taylor Story" that came out in 1995 and, not being big on tears, was shocked when Todd died and I cried! If her relationship with Burton was anything like the movie portrayed it, who could blame her for going back for more?
