I think he's more just trying to scratch his back than anything else. I just love watching him do it though. :-) Now Thor, one day he rolled in a big, stinking pile and let me tell you - I can definitely feel for you on the bathing issue. He weighed 80 pounds and hated water. I had to put him on a short leash and spray him down with the hose. Needless to say that didn't help his dislike of water.
