Hey, you can always check out my blogs on the Cabbage Soup Diet! LOL

I'm Disney Selective

21 Oct 2006 08:44 PM

I have to take issue with Grace's statement on 'Disney dominating the child's imagination'. If a child isn't given quiet time without outside stimulus then they won't use their imagination. Too many parents just plug in their kids to the TV in the morning and then unplug them when it is time to go to bed rather than limiting their movie & television time. My husband and I discussed long ago that we would buy all of the classic Disney children's movies as well as any new Disney movies that we felt were appropriate for our son. Just because we buy all the movies doesn't mean that our son is plugged in to them for 12 hours a day, nor does it mean that we buy all the backpacks, lunchboxes, stuffed toys and action figures that go along with each movie.

That doesn't make us anti-Disney. Geez! That's just responsible parenting! You can't blame Disney for parents making poor choices.

Chicken Tava

20 Sep 2006 11:20 AM

I had Chicken Tava in the Tarsus region of Turkey that was similar but much lighter. The chicken was all white meat, cut into cubes and there wasn't a heavy sauce. It was a wonderful melange of chicken, tomatoes, green peppers, onions and garlic served in a sizzling dish with fantastic flatbread on the side.

Just Saying No to Recruiters

I agree completely, Sherry! Babydawn, you're parents raised you well. Unfortunately, there are too many American parents who believe that the public school system will raise their kids for them. That's how you get kids who can't make their own decisions or their own lives.

Brad Pitt vs. Diaper Rash

14 Sep 2006 11:23 AM

LOL! My first thought was - had they considered not letting their children lounge in wet diapers? I once knew a man who truly believed that a diaper should continue to be worn until it leaks. (Not a very healthy idea.) Maybe the Pitt-Jolie cure would be a more attentive nanny. Just a thought.

On the rare occassions when my son had diaper rash, I used Lansinoh (Lanolin generally recommended for nursing mothers). A thin layer of Lansinoh would clear up anything within hours.

Top 5 Fashion Trends-Would You Wear It?

14 Sep 2006 11:11 AM

OK, the shirtdress I am TOTALLY into! I LOVE them!

And those skinny jeans - so long as you buy the right size, you can chase after anything in them.

Personally, I'll be THRILLED to see those wretched bellbottoms get off the racks of stores!

Swimmers Target Stingrays To Avenge Steve Irwin's Death

14 Sep 2006 11:06 AM

Wow! Have these people just missed the whole point of Steve's life - of his mission?! He even called it his "Mission". He lived, breathed, ate and slept animals - specifically, the conservation of animals and their natural environments. He would never intentionally hurt any living creature and certainly would want anyone to do it in his name. So sad.

10 Reasons You Should Strength Train

13 Sep 2006 09:31 PM

And let's not forget that strength training gives a woman the curves she wants as opposed to the curves she doesn't! A pound of muscle is far more compact and takes up less space than a pound of fat. A woman of 5'8" who weighs a well-muscled 170 will easily slide into a size 8 or 10 but that same woman at the same weight with less muscle and more fat will wear a 14. I know what I'm talking about because I AM that woman!

Raspberry Water - A Cool and Refreshing Alternative

13 Sep 2006 09:27 PM

I like making my own flavored waters at home. Lemons, limes and oranges usually do the trick. I'll squeeze the juice of a lemon or lime into a 1/2 gallon jug and then add a couple tablespoons of Splenda to sweeten. With an orange, no sweetener is necessary. Tastes great and breaks the monotony of those 2 gallons of water I'm supposed to drink every day!
