Are Our Schools in Crisis?

Very interesting article but it leads me to more questions. What countries have the best schools?

5 Things You Should Know Before Attending an Air Force Function

Good tip! Definitely wear shoes that are well broken in and low enough that you can bear to stand in for hours on end - and navigate stairs!

Things to Discuss Before the Wedding

Wow! Clymenestra, it is really obvious here that there is so much misinformation that you are accepting at face value rather than doing your own homework. I am a Christian, but I've read the Koran and your problem is not with the Koran or Islam but with the desert culture of the Middle East (and mostly Northern Africa). The Koran tells men to honor women and protect them, not rape them and kill them.

Don't simply accept pop culture and what sells newspapers as truth and pick up a National Geographic, or better yet, read the Koran for some more reliable information about a religion and cultures you are clearly misinformed on.

A Little Off the Beaten Path...

Amen, sister! A lot of people fall in love with the idea of working at home but just don't realize how much WORK it really is. I have 3 jobs. I am the mother of a (nearly) two-year-old boy who if not closely watched will propel himself off any height he can manage to climb to (and he's become quite creative at getting to the highest heights); I am a housekeeper who cleans up and cooks for a family of three and two particularly large, hairy, shedding dogs; and I have a job with a great company that I love and can do from home. Thankfully, my husband appreciates the fact that my paying job keeps me very busy and sometimes demands more than eight hours a day - but it wasn't always so.

I truly believe that setting boundaries for the other people in our home is the most difficult part for those of us who work at home!

Study Tips For Your Child

Great information! i don't think that a lot of parents get that all kids learn differently. I'm an auditory learner. I never took a note in class in high school or college. When I read my texts, I'd record them on an audio tape and then play the tape back as I fell asleep the night before a test. Peers and professors hated me. I still managed to graduate cum laude ;-)

3 Things a Military Spouse Needs to Know

Yeah, funny isn't it? I have no problem reciting my husband's SSN but I stammer when people ask for mine now!

Bake Your Own Bread

18 Jul 2006 10:50 AM

QueenAngie, That is so great that you are teaching your sons how to bake. So few people do it any more. I almost think it is becoming a lost art. I made homemade bread once when my in-laws were visiting and my father-in-law just went wild for it. Ever since then, I've made a point of baking bread the day before they visit. And HE can go through a loaf a day easily too!

"Brangelina" Article Backlash

I think it is time that people speak up about Angelina's planned "collection" of children. Another famous actress, Mia Farrow, collected quite a few children (13-14 at last count) and we all know what happened with one of them and Mia's longtime lover, Woody Allen. Adopting a child is making a lifelong commitment to love and cherish that child and raise it to the best of your ability - it isn't a matter of picking out this season's latest accessory!

I'm a member of Bally Total Fitness and absolutely love it! I am one of those Bally’s members that goes 5 times a week, locks my valuables safely in a locker, is overjoyed with the childcare provided and believes that what I pay for my membership is well worth it. I think you just happened to get your hands on some bad information provided by some bitter people who may not have been happy no matter what gym they joined. After all, it isn't the gym's fault if we can't get off our butts and go exercise, is it?
