I use 2-liter soda bottles (cleaned with bleach & water, rinsed and dried). I fill them about 3/4 full with filtered water, place the cap on loosely and place them upright in my deep freezer. Once the water is frozen (and there's no danger of further expansion from freezing) I tighten the tops and then stack them on the freezer floor. This way, not only will I have water available in an emergency but if I lose power, the food in the freezer will keep much longer thanks to all the bottles of ice in there. Is Your Body a Temple?12 May 2006 11:45 AM This is a great point to bring up. We forget in the rush of our everyday lives to take care of ourselves. We "grab something" to eat from a drive-through rather than fuel our body with what it needs. We forget to respect ourselves by taking care of ourselves. Mothers do this all the time. We make sure our children eat right and are clean and healthy, but when there is a time crunch, we skip preparing a healthy meal for ourselves and grab something quick and less than healthy. Respecting God's creation by taking the best possible care of it sounds like the best weight loss program ever! Edward Norton - One of the Best Actors of My Generation10 May 2006 03:47 PM I was wary about watching American History X given all the social issues that it dealt with, but I have to say that once I saw it, I thought it was an amazing piece of film. That was due in no small part to Norton's acting. I've been a big fan of his ever since. Definitely an amazing actor! Magazines for Everyone!08 May 2006 08:22 PM I just bought my mother-in-law a subscription to O (The Oprah Magazine) for Mother's Day. Sure, flowers would be good, but this gift will keep coming every month for a year! Hold to the Course08 May 2006 06:06 AM "Whatsoever thing ye shall ask in faith, believing that ye shall receive in the name of Christ, ye shall receive it." Enos 15. Keep the faith, Candace! Yale Undergrads: The Best, The Brightest, The Taliban?07 May 2006 08:09 AM I don't know about you, but volunteer work for the Taliban hardly seems like community service. Hitler was interesting too, but you wouldn't want your kids going to school with him! Ivy League schools in the US have become some bastions of fanatical liberalism that I don't find the idea of my son attending one at all appealing. Chocolate may make your depression worse!06 May 2006 01:21 AM Ah-hah! "Foods high in sugar" but semisweet and dark chocolate are not as high in sugar as the average, everyday milk chocolate. So the rebound effect is due to the sugar - not the chocolate. Don't take away my chocolate, Beth! Want a Chance to Win a Weight Loss DVD? A Trip to the World's Most Visited Mall04 May 2006 12:53 PM My husband is from Minnesota, so we like to take a trip to the Mall whenever we go back to visit. The last time we were there, we took our nephew (who had just turned 5) to Camp Snoopy for the day as a birthday present. He went on every ride he was tall enough to enter and had a blast! Then we took him to Hooters for lunch (we actually love the chicken there). Come Monday, young Brady was the big man on the school bus because not only did he get to spend the whole day at Camp Snoopy, but he went to Hooters.
