Scrapbooking Is Not Just For Women - Blog Entry

31 Jul 2006 10:12 AM

Nicole,

Thank you for sharing this. I admit that I often feel like an outsider as a man who scrapbooks. It is indeed puzzling that even though many (or even most) of the most influential and famous artists of the past were men, andn yet suddenly when a new hobby that celebrates being artistic and preserving memories becomes popular is becomes gender-typed as female. I guess being a man at the crop is kind of like being a woman sitting on the board of directors of a huge Fortune 500 corporation. Or maybe I shouldn't be quite so dramatic! :) Being at the crop is a lot less pressure and a lot more fun!

Anyway, I appreciate this tag and I had fun reading it. I'd love to share with you some of the work I have done too. I have been scrappin for about 6 or 7 years, and I am addicted. I'm a 29-year-old graduate student getting my PhD in psychology, but I've even considered opening a scrapbook store of my own since I love it so much. And there is not a single scrapbook store in Manhattan (where I live) yet. And they say you can get anything in New York City!

Oh, and my wife loves the fact that I scrapbook--she is glad she doesn't have to do it!
