I've had a lot of success with the South Beach Diet which is said to be one of the healthiest diets around. I was able to get down to my target weight in only 3 months on it. I would recommend it to anyone.

I've heard before that one of the sweetest smells in church is cigarette smoke. It's much more important to be in church than avoid it out of guilt. Usually members are less judgemental than you think. Give it a try.
