How Long Should You Stay at Job? - Blog Entry

Trev,

Yes, good point. Although it is more about how you look to another future employer in this case. Sometimes being loyal is more about yourself then about the company you are working for!

Save on Cooling Costs - Blog Entry

Programmable thermostats are definitely ways to save money on both heating and cooling as you can set them to do the thinking for you... as well as go on and off when you are away.

Also... if you live in a cooler climate like England... then cooling costs may just well not be much of an issue :) Thanks for the reminder Samual!

Rich,

Thanks for the comment! I am certainly glad it was a timely article for you. It is amazing the stuff that people don't consider when applying for jobs :) If you take the time to plan ahead, it will really help you to shine above the rest in the career world.

Should you Save for College or Retirement - Blog Entry

Kelly,

Thanks for the perspective. I do agree with you, that college is critical for success and if parents can afford to pay for it then go for it! The main consideration is not to choose between college and retirement, it is more the idea of choosing which one to save for ahead of time. With college, there tends to be other ways to pay for it rather than saving ahead... but with retirement... if you don't save, there is no money coming later!

Samual,

Thanks for sharing some insight from the UK. We also have a type of "pension" in the US known as Social Security -- however it is often not enough money to continue living at the same lifestyle most of us become accustomed to in our income generating years.

Reducing the temptation is always a good first step. By limiting your ability to borrow, you can begin to gain control again.

Rhinog,

Thanks for your comment. Debt is a bit like gaining weight... it tends to sneak up on you. Then before you know it... you are in over your head.

Like anything, the first step is to start digging your way out. Definitely use some of my DIY hints to get you started. I also got in over my head in bills years ago, and now I am debt-free. You can do it too!
