Tax Cut - Blog Entry

Cool advice Miriam! I had no idea there was free software online, or a free e-file either for that matter. What a great tip!

Now, why is there an income cap?? In all honesty, shouldn't we all be able to get free tax help? Why do we have to "pay" to pay the government money...hmmm....

Frugal Kitchen Towels - Blog Entry

Mary Ann -- great blog! I am just like you and rarely buy paper towels. Many of my friends comment on... without paper towels how do you clean up messes on the floor? Well, I certainly wouldn't use my hand towel on the floor -- so instead I reserve a special sponge to use just on the floor. I even keep it in a special spot under the sink. That way I never worry that the extra dirty floor germs will get on my counter, sink or dishes. Using a sponge that can be rinsed clean and even put in the dishwasher is nice for spills and saves paper towels.

Miriam -- I definitely agree about the chocolate -- although in my life it is almost a necessity :) For me I love to buy clothes for fun. Not something practical like socks, but a great new sweater or pair of jeans that helps me feel good inside and out!

To Tip or Not To Tip - Blog Entry

Valorie,

I used to be a waitress, so I am a little biased. I always tip too and like you, at least 10%. But, I do think it is fabulous that you include a note for the manager when you receive special service. That takes extra effort on your part, but I am sure it is a better reward for the waitress than any other you could give. Thanks for sharing!

Start Teaching Your Kids about Money - Blog Entry

27 Aug 2007 03:25 PM

Thanks for the good advice about kids and credit. I absolutely agree! It is best to teach kids to save before they are ever offered the concept of borrow. This includes credit cards or even borrowing from their allowances.

Once your kids do have a savings system set. It can be beneficial to start teaching credit slowly. Let your kids borrow from you as an example. Teach them the importance of paying back their debts and budgeting. If you don't address it before they turn 18 and those credit card companies jump all over them... it is too late!
