Problems in the Bedroom? - Blog Entry

12 May 2009 05:39 AM

My husband does snore and keep me up at night, from time to time. Sometimes I turn on a small oscillating fan in our bedroom to drown out the noise.

Would You Allow Your Child to Wear a Purity Ring? - Blog Entry

07 Dec 2008 06:03 PM

No promise rings here.

I don't think the students who are wearing them should be forced to take them off during school, though. I agree that student dress codes and school uniform policies should be upheld, but within reason. I think students should be able to wear one or two things that define who they are, as long as it is nothing flamboyant or distracting.

Volunteering When You Have Other Children - Blog Entry

07 Dec 2008 05:56 PM

When my kids were in school I volunteered for practically everything. I went on nearly every field trip and I was room mother several years as well. It is very hard to volunteer at field trips while you are watching toddlers at the same time. I think it is ok in the classroom if the younger children are well-behaved, but unfortunately, a mom can't always predict whether her children will behave well or have an off day.

I used to make babysitting arrangements for my younger children but many other moms brought their cranky toddlers or crying infants into the classrooms. That just stresses out the teacher and makes everything a little harder, so I understand why some schools are making these rules.

I have no idea what any of that has to do with the kiddy table, but I am rolling on the floor laughing!!!!

I think you need a good editor, Kevin Pieterson.

Types of Distance Learning Education - Blog Entry

We homeschool our children, and we were looking into different options for our two oldest for this school year. We thought about the CLASS program offered through Christian Liberty Press. It seems like a good program for people who are interested in a school at home program with supervision.

The student mails in their assignments and grades are mailed back. The CLASS option offers report cards and transcripts, and a high school diploma at the end of 12th grade. We didn't use it, because it is so supervised, but I probably would have tried it a few years ago before we became so set in our hs routines. Here is a link http://www.homeschools.org/index.html

Frugal Party Food - Blog Entry

I was invited for dinner last weekend, the hostess served ham and beans, fried potatoes, and home-baked corn bread. It was a wonderful meal, and I am sure she didn't spend much. I would not have thought to serve ham and beans for company but it was a lovely evening and I actually now think it was the perfect meal for the evening!

The Top Ten Most Influential Hollywood Tots - Blog Entry

Oh yes, Suri Cruise and Shiloh Jolie-Pitt have been an amazing influence in every aspect of all our lives, haven't they? I'm not sure, is my sarcasm coming across here? 'Cause I'm just kidding...

More on the Paula Abdul Suicide - Blog Entry

The people who audition for Idol are taking a big risk--the judges can be brutal! But, they know that too, right? But some of them are clearly just trying to get on television by inviting people to make fun of them. In that environment, how could anyone know that one of them was mentally ill? It seems like something should have been done, but I honestly don't know what. It is just a shame.

New Incentive to Get Parents to Walk Kids to School - Blog Entry

15 Nov 2008 10:20 AM

They have the walking school buses in Kansas City. They were started at the private schools in Brookside to promote exercise, but also because the private schools don't run school buses. Now they are doing it at several of the charter and public schools in that area. It is a great program, they walk a route just like a bus drives a route and the kids run out and join the bus as it goes by their house. And the parents take turns 'driving' it.

When my kids went to schools (we homeschool now) I walked them to school and back every day, unless it was raining or dangerously cold. We always enjoyed walking.

The Latest on Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, and Jennifer Aniston - Blog Entry

I seriously doubt that her only beef is with Angelina, it seems to me like she is actually just trying to refrain from bad mouthing either one of them. To say that Angelina's comments were "uncool" falls far short of any number of nasty things that she could have said! And if she had made nasty remarks I think she would have been completely justified, although I respect her for choosing not to do so. I mean, I really wouldn't expect her to praise the woman for carrying on an affair with her husband.
