24 Jul 2006 11:20 AM BaptisedAll the prep and organization and it's all done. C & S where baptised on Sunday July 23 The girls wore sundresses purchased at Kohl's by grandma (no she didn't make the dresses, but these are very very nice) They are white with little butterflies embroidered on the bodice. S asked to wear her hair down - it's very pretty down - but we don't do it often as it can be a mighty nasty tangle! We filled the church with friends and family (and lots of brown faces too!) Granddad, Uncle Andy, Church choir director and a family friend formed a mens chortet to sing Gonna Have a Little Talk with Jesus. It was awesome! There where many requests for more performances from them. The childrens sermon was about the many ways that we praise God and how singing and music where some of them. C & S performed the Veggie Tales song -Thank God for this Day and did awesome, then another little girl A, who is also a foster child asked to sing and chose Jesus Loves Me (and was so cute doing it!), Then C & S joined along with the pastors daughter (adopted from China) to sing Jesus Loves the Children (cute and more appropriate then those kids could ever know!). Pastor also asked the children what the baptism that was about to happen was all about - C quickly piped up "God loves us, We love God" Then we had the baptism, I started to tear up (not a surprise to anyone that knows me) and C turned around and said "Louder, Mommy" well the whole congregation laughed and I did much better from their. Uncle Andy also arranged Amazing Grace for a Piano and euphoniam <sp?> duet and performed with the church organist, very nice! (Amazing Grace is the girls favorite song!) After the service we hosted a social hour in the church basement. We were quite pleased with the number of friends, family and church members that joined us. I had our family scrapbook which was complimented by many. On the 'funny remarks' we heard - OK who here ISN'T Adotped - Well there where 2 foster kids, 1 pending adoption (private adoption) and 4 being parented by their birth families. That left 4 adopted via fostercare, 2 domestic infant adoptions, 1 international adoption. I also loved that when S was serving punch she would ask people what color cups they wanted for their punch - tooo cute! And the punch was at her request too. C's request of cookies made by Aunt Trish was a big hit too -she made an awesome assortment of cookies! After the social hour at the church Grandma hosted a lunch at her house for family and our out of town visitors. Dad's count was that we had 15 for that. No comments on this article yet.
