I also had RNY Gastric Bypass at 265 pounds! My surgery was on 5/14/02, but I still struggle. I was 10 pounds from goal when I got pregnant, then gained 5 pounds from pregnancy. Over the last year I have sat at my computer more than exercising, and have put on an additional 15 pounds. I am struggling to stay motivated, but I keep trying to remember where I was after surgery, how much I wanted my health to change, and I'm using those feelings and inspiration to get back in the game. The surgery is by no means a magic pill, it's still continuous hard work. You look great, by the way! I Don't Like Babies02 Aug 2006 04:49 PM Wow! I need to send this to my friend. She is 29 and having her tubes tied next week because she said she does not like babies and doesn't want to ever do the "mommy" thing again. (She has a 2 year old autistic boy.) I thought she was crazy at first, but now I see where she is coming from. It's weird, because we always pegged her for being a 'baby machine.' Some people just surprise you, I guess! Back Pain in Pregnancy02 Aug 2006 04:22 PM I also want to add that I agree that excrutiating back pain during pregnancy may be a sign of a bigger problem. There is a disorder caused by many things, one of them pregnancy, called Sacroilitis, or Sacroiliac Joint Dysfunction. My frist pregnancy started the process, halfway during my second I had to be put on pain killers it was so bad. I know have a permanent disability that is hard to live with. The only thing I could recommend to try to help this is to wear level shoes and get your back adjusted often. Having one leg slightly longer than the other can be the cause of a hip dislocation or damage to the sacral joint. Great article! ADHD and the Maddening Missing Meds01 Aug 2006 09:34 AM Wow. I can relate! Thanks so much for standing up for the use of medication in ADHD. My daughter has the big "H" in her ADHD, and it pains me when people say they don't believe ADHD is even a true disorder. Don't you just wish they could live in our shoes for a day?! My daughter uses Focalin, but honestly we are at a point we need to increase the dose or try something else. Six Ways to Deal With a Hyperactive Child01 Aug 2006 09:27 AM Thank you for the helpful information! My daughter is on medication, but I'm always looking for additional ways to calm her. |
