Not that negative doesn't have its place in some situations... Would You Allow Your Teen to Do This? - Blog Entry18 Mar 2009 05:15 AM For safey's sake, absolutely not. If he/she was posting on a protected site, yes. Bad stuff can happen anywhere, but I feel posting all that personal infomation for ANYBODY to see is very dangerous. How easy would it be for a con artist/whatever to reel her in, seeing as it's public knowledge what she wants to do and what she needs to get there? Having all that info "out there" really can open her up to potentially dangerous situations. Even More Ways to Get a Toddler to Eat - Blog Entry15 Mar 2009 11:03 AM ... forgot the most important part--very safe to use, as the graters aren't exposed! Even More Ways to Get a Toddler to Eat - Blog Entry15 Mar 2009 06:27 AM ...for parmesan, a rotary cheese grater would be TONS of fun -- just like you see at the restaurants. I got my hubby (he's a cheese-a-holic) one as a gift that has a cap you put on one end for storage. My LO isn't eating much in the way of solids yet, but I'm hoping he takes after Dad and goes for cheese! Designer Babies Are Now Available - Blog Entry06 Mar 2009 07:10 AM As said previously, though, there is no guarantee. The altered genetics just increases the likelyhood of the expression of the select traits. Since eye color, skin color, etc.. are not visible until the birth of the child and other traits will not be fully expressed for years, what are those parents going to do when the child is not "as designed"? Give them up for adoption as a school age child? I think not. I think legislation regarding this topic is expecially tough b/c the majority of people really have no idea what is really involved in the science. That being said, the future of any new and potentially poweful technology is unforseeable and is scarey for many to imagine. I think I need a few years to make up my mind on this one... Parental No-No: Breastfeeding While Driving - Blog Entry03 Mar 2009 07:34 AM My friend posted a link to this story on her FB page ... still cannot wrap my mind about the absurdity of such a woman! I'm all for mothers being allowed to breastfeed any where any time, but that would be on the provision that it is safe for the child. Your baby might get hungry while you are standing on the bus, but wouldn't you at least sit or wait for the stop in case the bus stops suddenly and the 20 people behind you pie up on you and your baby? That mom must live in the middle of nowhere to have not run into other drivers so far in her life of "extreme multitasking". The Cons of Using Pacifiers - Blog Entry05 Feb 2009 07:58 AM According to the NICU nurses, our little guy used one in the unit, but he has only used it twice, for less than 1 minute each time since he has been home (7 months ago). I'm glad I don't have to worry about taking one away. I guess I'm lucky to have a content baby and don't see the need for one anyhow. On a side note, I personally think that if your child has to remove the paci from his/her mouth to have a conversation (full sentences) with you, they are TOO DARN OLD to have one! Michael Phelps Caught Smoking Marijuana - Blog Entry02 Feb 2009 07:36 AM Would it have been a big deal if he was "caught" smoking in Holland, where it is legalized? I don't doubt that he was taking a break from working so hard and "just trying to be a kid". Kid in this sense means the young adult kind... Was it right? no. should he be penalized for it? maybe somewhat. Will it go away? maybe, maybe not. I wouldn't be surprised if the debate over the legalization of marijuana is stirred once again... Mom Adds Octuplets to Brood of Six - Blog Entry01 Feb 2009 07:29 AM I had a friend who's doctor refused to tie her tubes b/c she wanted NO children. He was able to make the decision for her, I guess in case she changed her mind he didn't want to be liable. Then on the other hand you have a doctor(s?) who implants embryos into a woman who, by many persons' standards "has plenty of children" -- when is it really a woman's right to chose or not? It seems like the ability of one to provide adequate care should come into the mix, but how can that be fairly determined? Anyhow, to answer the question (sort of) if I were a doctor looking at her case (I'm not a people doctor) I would not have implanted her at all, let alone with 5+ embryos, unless there was clearly extenuating circumstances, the other children were well cared for and she had the support system in place to care for more babies. Unless I were only concerned with getting paid, then I'd just take my paycheck and run. Do You Think Jessica Simpson is Fat? - Blog Entry01 Feb 2009 07:18 AM wasn't Marylin Monroe a size 12 or 14??? boy, how times have changed. ok, she was before my time, but seemed like an appropriate expression! She did wear a different style, so I'm sure that helped. Anyhow, in general, women can be very self-doubting, and it isn't really fair to throw weight on as another thing to lower her self-worth. |
