How to Make Great eBay Listings

If you are working at home selling items on eBay either casually or through an eBay store, make sure that your listings stand out from the rest. Here are a few pointers on what makes a great eBay listing. The first tip is to check completed auctions from similar items. The auctions that ended with the highest price for your item will give you clues as to what helps sell that particular item. Pictures can make or break your eBay listing. Buyers want to see exactly what they are getting. A plain background and good lighting go a long way … Continue reading

EBay makes online auctions worthwhile again

I have always used EBay to make money saving purchases. When my video camera battery died, and it was no longer available in the stores, I did not buy a new camera, I got a new battery on EBay. When the cat popped a few keys off my daughter’s laptop, I didn’t spend $100.00 on repairs, I got new keys from EBay and found an online tutorial for installing it. Instead of buying a $1000 projection screen for the basement, I purchased fabric and screen building instructions from EBay and made the perfectly good screen for $40.00. EBay has saved … Continue reading

EBay Slashes Fees!

Even EBay is feeling the heat. With consumer spending down and many young new e-commerce companies successfully gaining ground, the auction giant is slashing its listing fees in order to boost listings and remain competitive. EBay announced today that listing fees will be cut up to 50 percent. The company hopes the reduced fees will encourage more people to use the service to sell their goods. Lately, EBay has been suffering from stagnant growth and fewer listed items. But hold on, before you comb through the attic for Great Aunt Talula’s doll collection or Grandpa’s commemorative baseball cap, know that … Continue reading

eBay Match Ups

What is better, Pepsi or Coke? How about a cute bunny vs. a cute kitten? This past week I was playing around on the Internet and stumbled upon eBay’s new match ups site. As far as I can tell the only point of the site is to vote on what you think is better between two things. On the site’s homepage right now there is Ellen vs. Oprah, Gwyneth vs. Madonna, and Hugo Boss vs. Channel. All of the match-ups on the site are submitted by site users, and all of them ask you to choose between two similar, or … Continue reading

Working at Home Does Not Mean I’m Free

Years ago when I decided to stay home to my kids it was as if a memo went out to all my friends informing them that I was now at their disposal. I was now the go to girl for babysitting needs or any other need a person who went to work could not do. At first I was happy to help but in time I grew weary of the expectation that I was available just because I was home. I may not have worked but I had two small children and household under my charge. Still, I felt obligated … Continue reading

PayPal and Your Business

For many PayPal is a love/hate relationship. PayPal is like the popular girl in school that no likes but everyone fights to sit next to in the cafeteria. What Will Become Of The Postal Service

The other day I was on my way to court and I was listening to Public Radio. It was a very interesting program, and the topic of discussion certainly got me thinking. The subject of the program was the United States Postal Service. Apparently, the Postal Service has been losing money for years and this year will be the worst year yet. There is discussion going on now about whether the Postal Service as we currently know it can continue to exist. There is much debate over whether to eliminate the Postal Service entirely, or to make sweeping changes that … Continue reading

With Craigslist, the free online classifieds phenomena, you can both save and make money. Here are some tips to make sure that you get the most out of this great service.
