Adoptive Parenting Traits, Part 5 - Blog Entry

Vernell, that is exactly what he was doing, the first time it caught me off guard and made me a little insecure, am i doing a good job with him, and so forth. I'm glad that you are here and reading my blogs. Let me know if you guys reach a decision about adopting.

Crickett, just as our experienced adoption worker told us, these conversations would always be started by him, when he wanted to do it, I can't seem to start one, and that they would always be when we were not face to face, when we were doing something else. So far , it has always been with him alone when I am driving and he is sitting in the back seat.

Melody - thank you so much for sharing with us. Yes, we have taken the road that everything is open, I don't mind sharing on the internet because the boys have been told these things over and over. Every now and then, the 5 and 6 year old ask about what they were like when they were babies and we remind them of when they came to our house, we share our earliest pictures of them, we tell the stories of when they came to live with us, the first moment we saw Tommy, he was eating, we asked him what he had and he said "fwech fwies", he has heard that many times. I tell Caleb the story of "baby Caleb" about once a week at bedtime, why we wanted him, how we got him, what it was like, sometimes he tells me the story. Thanks for your comments, I look forward to receiving your input in the future.

In Houston customs , there is always a dog sniffing for food, I have seen them pull out a banana and throw it out, with the person saying that they would eat it, and the agent saying not any more.

Artcraft, I always welcome your comments, keep them coming as you think of them. This is so neat to be able to get advice, the color coding is a great idea, I will go read the other blog, we needed a rainy day game today.

Artcraft, with the gummy vitamins, they all decide that one color is favored and everybody, currently, wants red. I need to write another article on the behaviors that have stopped, I know you have less to deal with too.

Thanks Patti, something I know you are familiar with, Isaiah's asthma got bad today, luckily we got in to see the pediatrician, now doing breathing treatments every 3 hours, he is getting better.

rsbg, and it always helps to have experts that can give advice whether it is postadoptive services, on this site, or at the drs office.

For us, it was manified because it was four of them at once. We had a close friend who lived nearby and she was always available in emergencies. I am glad those days are over. Now when they fight, it is the wrestling that all brothers do. It gets better every day. All of us look forward to reports when your "title" changes.

Thanks rsbg, I am in the middle of a blog about healing and why it is so slow sometimes with special needs children, I will have it up in 30 minutes or so. Support like yours keeps me going. Its fun becoming friends as we talk about these things.

Crickett, I just did a search on chron.com using the words "hay center" and it came up. It was an article in yesterday's paper. The lady that runs it is named Linda Jayne, her name might pull up the article also.
