Some kids get potato chips and a sugar drink because it is cheap, quick and the child likes it. When Nancy and I did some work in the really impoverished areas of Brooklyn, NY, we saw small children with rotten baby teeth. I wrote a blog on my experience with WIC. They have to warn people not to give babies Coke, that is how bad it is for some people. On the radio this morning the report came in that they are looking for a 4 month old baby, on a trip from San Antonio to Houston, the child's mother does not remember what she did with her. There are a lot, a whole lot, of older sibling groups of minority children available. I assume that you are familiar with the state website that talks about them. Keep praying, ther are some kids out there that are praying for a family, they think that they have been passed over because of their age. By the way, there is an interesting story in the chronicle about oster children aging out of the system and what they do then. When you are called, you never know when you are going to retire. When a church has a guest missionary from XYZ, they always, it seems, say that they were praying to be sent anywhere but XYZ, God is funny that way.
