Oh, and I forgot, I don't know how everyone feels about capital punishment, but Texas has a "Don't mess with Texas" slogan concerning littering. We could use it for our criminal law courts also. Here, if you commit the crime, you receive the punishment. "Law and Order" judges get elected, it is what the people want.

It has become a part of African American culture to make up names, sometimes with unusual spelling. From my vantage point, it looks like it puts the individual at a disadvantage in this world.

Julie, it is a very unfortunate pattern that we see in abuse cases. The mom wants a boyfriend and so she has someone who doesn't love her children staying with her. Then the boyfriend does something horrible to the child. I recently reported on a case where the mom promised the judge that she would not let him come back..When she did, it was not long until the worst happened. I see it again and again and again. Bad moms make the choice of having a man over protecting their children.

She was abused as a child, then in the foster system, then adopted, then ran away from her adoptive home and been on the street ever since. I am worried that she will have more children, counting our guys, she had seven in nine or ten years, I think. The oldest is autistic. Last word was that she is living with a man who is also hiv positive and on an IUD.

I recently read or heard about a test where the same woman using the same resume phoned n for an interview appointment. Half the time, she used a common name, say "Jane" and the other was "Tameka" or similar. Guess which name got by far the most appointments.

Eliza, you are so right. My chest felt tight when I took him for the test and when I called his doctor's office for the report. He is a huge child and that told us that it was not probable, but it was very reassuring to know.
