Dad's Losing It: Wishing for Spring - Blog Entry

Hey Jeff, move to South Texas, it never snows here. We only have a day or two of spring, but we have a very long summer. Going to the gym in the morning is a good idea. Keep it up, my man.

Services Provided for Former Foster Children - Blog Entry

Thanks so much, I don't know if other states are providing a resource like this one, if you want more info, you might get on the Houston Chronicle site, www.chron.com, and type Hay Center into their search engine, they did an article about the place. Thanks for reading, Ed.

Just Like Dad - Blog Entry

Its an important way that Matthew bonds to me and the family, it is how he chooses to do it so I make sure that my antenna is up when it happens. Having a caring father makes it a lot easier to know what to do, thanks for your comment, Ed.

It is great that he wants to be like me and my Dad, I only hope that he copies the good things and doesn't pick up on my bad habits. One of our little boys said a very mild expletive at school which was reported to us. I am glad that they did not ask him where he heard the word. Parents need to always remember that little eyes are watching them.

Separated Siblings - Blog Entry

Thanks for the comment, I can tell you guys know what you are talking about. To often, there is so much pressure to move kids that I think it gets impersonal, "we can get the pretty one adopted, if we can separate him from..." and so on. There is a place in Houston called the Hay Center where they help kids who have graduated from the foster system and finding sibs is the biggest request. My blog was entitled "Services Provided for Foster Children" that tells about it. Also, there are some blogs about how bad it has gotten, "Foster Care Reform", for instance. Its a terrble mess, 20,000 foster kids in Texas. Its hard to think about.

Mamma's on a Diet: Week 3 Weigh In - Blog Entry

Another good judge of how you are doing is the way your clothes feel. When I don't seem to be making progress on the scales and I can tighten a belt a notch, or a shirt is looser, I know I am making progress and ignore the scales. I also NEVER pay attention to bathroom scales, they are worthless, find someplace that you can go and weigh on REAL scales. My doctor's office lets me walk in and go back to their scales. Or when I go to the YMCA, their scales are good. It sounds like you are off to a great start. Keep it up.
