As a grandmother *yikes* I find that I do limit the amount of televison viewing my grandson Jaden watches while he is in my care. He does enjoy Einsteins and Dora the Explorer. I like teaching him the Spanish words during Dora, and I feel the Baby Einsteins have all the classical music and art appreciation built into the program. Most any other show doesn't keep his attention so I am thrilled. Many parents/grandparents do seem to use the television as a babysitter. As a former teacher I raised my own children without a single gameboy, ninetendo etc in my house and lots of books. My own children have gone on to college and careers. Many of their peers have gotten into trouble or are stalled in their lives. It kinda makes you stop and think about removing more than just television time. We are raising a society of kids that: don't know how to add. won't listen to authority, are addicted to video games and violence, who defy authority, who cannot seem to understand basic language skills and so much more. Frightening --- right? We could change it all when they are little-- with just a few minor adjustments. At least that is my humble opinion.

Fantastic list! I went to a retreat that helps you get in touch with feelings. It was for women only, and a lot of them had been adopted or abused. We could bring paper and pen, or a journal. There were no tv,radios, mp3's or anything. They divided us into big rooms and played music like many of the songs above just to get emotional responses and then we would take walks outside to journal about the music and meet again to talk. It took me until the end of the second day to break down. I cired for about 2 hours and then filled several journal pages. When I was able to talk I shared a lot of feelings with the other women. It was scary and hard to do but it felt sorta good. Music heals the soul. At least I think so.

If I could go back. What a concept. I think I would like to have known his family. We married while he was in the military and without meeting families. What a BIG mistake. Both his parents died before he was three years old so he was brought up by relatives. I had no idea how many bad habits he picked up from his uncle. My ex husband turned out to have deviant behaviors because of his upbringing. If I had a chance to change anything is a hard question. I love having my child. Interesting topic as usual. Thanks.

Hmm. I hadn't thought about trying soy-ground meat for lasagne. I'm trying so hard to change my diet and cut bad cholesterol. I'll have to try some of these ideas. I think I will go ahead and read the other three articles as well. :)

My son was such a huge fan. He loved to mimic him for drama class. I feel like I need to call my son and find out how he is taking this death. I know he is probably truly crushed. Great article.

Girl, you sure do have a lot of photos on your page! You have a very attractive (and active)family. I have a few photos up but I have been so busy trying to get freelance leads lately I haven't had a lot of extra time. Oh, I also have mother-in-law staying over and a new grandson. (2 weeks old) My days are kind of full, not a lot of time to upload photos. Hug those kids tight.

These items are very helpful. I bought a very similar gadget for my foster daughter for Christmas. She loses her keys a lot because her son Jaden loves to play with the keys and doesn't put them back in her purse. Now, she makes sure she has them before closing her front door or shutting her car.

It seems we are always losing things and needing to track them down. My phone has a page locator button to track it down around the house. I wish my television remote did the same thing, oh and I wish it worked on my missing left shoe that my grandson keeps hiding. (grin) Ahhh! The joys of grandparenting.

Wow! How awesome! I live in Kansas too. Your baby pictures and wedding pictures are super. I am a big water drinker so keep it up. I think the midwife thing is cool. I had a friend who had one and she loved the experience.

Excellent article Sherry. I have always wanted to know about the Video Professor system. In the back of my mind I thought if I signed up for one video I'd never stop getting junk from them. Thanks for the info.

On a side note-- I am sorry you got some snippy comments from Bonnie. This isn't the first time on this site I've seen her do this (and I am new here). I am well aware of her antics on a few other sites. I hope we call all be supportive to one another here. Families.com is such a warm and inviting space. Not everyone here is an expert at everything, nor should anyone be expected to be a technical whiz in any specific area. A lot of people have stayed away from E-bay.

I have used e-bay with success when I wanted to sell something. I don't consider it my business. If you do try e-bay--my advice is to wait to put in your bid until the last day. You do not want to reveal your interest and get into a bidding war with anyone over an item. Wait until the last day,(last 30 minutes) to make a bid.

My 16-month-old grandson LOVES Curious George. I loved the stories as a child and now I am sharing them with a grandchild. Suddenly I feel a bit older than I look. Hee Hee. I remember reading the stories to kids when I babysat as a teen. These stories are timeless. My grandson even has Curious George pjay's and slippers he likes to wear while I read him the story. Sometimes we sit and giggle and make up a story for one page if he is a little antsy and cannot wait for page-turning that nite. Ahhhh, isn't grand-parent life the best! :)
