A Little Off the Beaten Path... - Blog Entry

You said it! People seem to think if you stay at home you must be available to do everything for them including run errands, pick up a quick prescription or their drycleaning. It wasn't until I had to give up driving due to a seizure risk that people finally stopped asking me to do things for them. They still think I am a built-in, free babysitter. With my Lupus, I have to lay down boundries as well. Once I sit down at the computer I don't like to be disturbed. It has taken the last four years to get my point across. Here's hoping more people get the point.

"You're not my BOSS!" Oppositional Defiant Disorder - Blog Entry

This article is very informative. Over the past few days I had two young nieces staying with a friend of mine and visiting my house on a daily basis during that time. One of them was clearly ODD. She rumaged through my kitchen cabinets for no known reason, threw things on the floor and generally did quite a bit of arguing with adults. Nothing was ever her fault though. It was an ordeal dealing with her because her Uncle refused to do anything about her behavior. I found myself looking up information this morning to find out what I could do for future visits. Thanks for the information.

Agonizing Journey: The Undiagnosed Child - Blog Entry

Fantastic article. It is encouraging and insightful. Many parents can be overwhelmed by the information or diagnosis and forget to settle down and focus on the actual treatment information they should be looking at. Any health issues should be dealt with in steps. Unfortunately, in this day of instant information on the internet, many will run to the information superhighway and then allow the information they find to upset them. Best of luck with ALL of your children. --flower--
