I met and married a Navy man and spent my young adult life doing a bit of travelling. He was very abusive towards me. Having grown up in an abusive adoptive home I thought it was normal. It took a long time for me to gather the strength to leave him. After my divorced I settled down in Kansas where I went to college, and raised my son by myself. My son is now grown and in the Navy Nuclear Program. I began writing to heal from my past. Throughout this time I worked hard and made many friends who are now a part of my support system. Seven years ago I was diagnosed with a progressive, chronic illness called Systemic Lupus. Over these past years I have learned to live with a changing lifestyle. I have tried to stay optomistic and upbeat. I spend my time writing, reading and crocheting. I enjoy taking care of my sixteen month old grandson and now have another grandson born July 23rd. |
