Keeping Children Safe in Cars

We need your help to stop these tragedies:

Each year dozens of infants and toddlers die when they are left alone in car seats by distracted adults, and then succumb to overheating. These deaths are the indirect result of the use of airbags in cars, which make it dangerous to place a child's car seat in the front passenger seat.

Since children's car seats have been moved to the back seat, there has been an increase in the number of deaths that occur as children are left behind in cars by distracted drivers.

Contrary to what some may think, these accidents are not usually the result of carelessness, or a lack of child care skills. Research into the brain has shown that they result, instead, from quirks of the human brain, a type of memory fault, as described more fully in an article in the Washington Post and on the website http://www.child-reminder.org. The website http://www.child-reminder.org offers a simple device that can substantially reduce the likelihood of these accidental deaths. If you drive with a child in a car seat - if you know someone who does - please visit this site and learn how and why these terrible accidents happen, and how they can be prevented with just two quick and simple steps.
