Five Great Uses for Coffee Cans29 Jul 2006 06:16 PM We buy the large plastic coffee containers, and after using up all the coffee, give them a thorough cleaning and use them to store the kids' little toys. I just write the contents of the can on the side with a Sharpie. They would probably be great to store sugar and flour or other kitchen staples. It does take a good soaking in bleach to get the coffee smell out though. Going Out to Eat without Going Broke07 Jun 2006 04:02 PM You're right, carry-out is a great way to save money. When we don't want to cook we'll pick up a couple of sandwiches at Subway and eat our own chips and drink our drinks. Another way we save money when eating out is that my husband and I almost always split a meal. The portions nowadays, especially at Mexican restaurants and steakhouses, are usually way more than any one person can eat anyway. Oh yeah, another really neat, although sometimes challenging way we save money is to try to replicate our favorite restaurants' meals in our own kitchen. We've had alot of fun researching 'copycat' recipes and sometimes just guessing, and we've come up with some really interesting meals this way! |
