23 Mar 2009 12:20 PM Cajun Seasoning vs Creole SeasoningCajun Seasoning is a wonderful Louisiana product most commonly found in the central southern part of Louisiana. Cajun seasoning is a bit different from creole seasoning in style and flavor. Common ingredients used in Cajun Seasoning are Salt, Garlic, Onion, Black Pepper, Medium Range Red Pepper, and sometimes Paprika and Chili Powder. Creole Seasoning typically consists of some of these same ingredients with more herbs such as thyme, bay leaves, basil, and celery salt. Creole Seasoning is most commonly found near the New Orleans and surrounding areas. I am from the heart of Cajun Country in beautiful Lafayette, Louisiana and I have lived here my whole life. Cajun Seasoning has always been a part of everything I do and is definitely a part of every meal my family cooks. Cajun Seasoning is used on chicken, beef, fish, seafood, pork, french fries, popcorn, and anything else you can think of. My family has developed a Cajun Seasoning recipe from many tried and true Cajun recipes passed down through the generations, kind of like a good story. We have bottled this seasoning blend and named it after my Great Great Grandfather and Grandmother: Ursin and Martha Fruge (Fru-Jay). The seasoning is called Fruge All Purpose Cajun Seasoning and it can be purchased at http://www.FrugeCajunSeasoning.comNo comments on this article yet. Be the first to comment! Discuss this article
