They had a 2-holer in the cow pasture behind the house. On each wall inside the outhouse was a nail. On each nail was a burlap bag. In each bag were newsprint, Sears catalogs, junk mail, any kind of paper other than toilet paper. They turned out all right. You just don't want the glossy full color paper. I just give my own kids money and let them blow it for themselves. I learned the efficiency of this several years ago when I drove my oldest child and all her gifts back to the stores whence they came, waited for her to exchange them for cash, and watched her buy stuff she wanted.
