It almost seems like there is a small sound delay when we're talking to people, which was really a problem for me in the beginning. However, considering the low cost, and our need to cut down on expenditures, it is worth it for us. If someone is calling in and we have youtube playing something, etc. we will have terrible reception. Sometimes we'll answer the phone, and say, "can we call you right back?" close down whatever's loading on the computer, and then call back w/ fine reception. The pluses? You can take it with you anywhere-motel, etc. and get your calls from home to you wherever you are-whether in state, out of state, out of the country . . For us, the only numbers available were numbers that were not local numbers . . so that could factor into your decision. In the end, we are a one income family, trying to cut costs, and despite some of the negatives, it is an incredible savings. I've contacted their customer service before and they were helpful . . Cover it and microwave for about a minute, and it's done :) I tried it one time we were at a hotel that I thought had a kitchenette, but instead only had a microwave. And what is the deal with a birthparent not visiting, or having any kind of contact and then suddenly interfering when the child has an opportunity to be adopted and live in a family environment?
