Snap Your Way to Photo Savings

We have two graduations at my house this month so I am completely immersed in graduation planning. As a result, I’ve been ordering lots of pictures and I’ve been using online photo processing sites to do it. The pictures I’ve ordered have included the standard fare of senior portraits and cap and gown shots. But I’ve also been using pictures in things like party invitations and collage poster prints (those are really cool, by the way). Fortunately, online photo processing makes all of this so much easier. Photos are so easy to upload and the selection of products you can … Continue reading

The Benefits of Fasting

The last two days I have written about the negative side effects of doing a detoxification diet. In essence, your body is well designed to detox on its own, and forcing a detox of the colon, will force all of the good bacteria out of your body as well. Not to mention the fact that diarrhea can upset the balance of electrolytes, potassium, and other nutrients needed in your body. If you’re trying to clean up your act and you really want to healthily cleanse your system, the best way to do it is by drinking plenty of water and … Continue reading

Travel Tidbits: Sleeping In Style… At Airports and Hot, Hot Hotels

SLEEPING IN STYLE Typically, when someone mentions that he or she “slept at the airport” I deduce that a flight delay or cancellation forced him or her to seek refuge on the nearest bench in a cold terminal. But, I may have to change my vision of what sleeping at an airport really entails. According to directors at the San Francisco Airport, later this year travelers will be able to snooze in style—-for a fee. Airport officials just announced they have approved a new retailer that plans to sell time slots in “napping chairs.” Weary travelers will no doubt be … Continue reading

Free Seeds! Expiring Soon

Although we are in the middle of winter here in Pennsylvania, I am thinking about a pretty spring garden. This year I am really looking forward to having lots of flowers and veggies, mostly because we will be moving to a new home with two acres–plenty of room for planting. Currently, we have a backyard the size of a postage stamp. This first year, I’ll probably go very eclectic, trying out different seeds and plantings. Rather than spending a fortune, I started looking around for good gardening deals. Some of my favorite deals so far has been getting free seeds. … Continue reading

Warm Up Empty Corners, Part I

Empty corners can create awkward spaces in your home and they can also make a house feel less than warm and inviting. If you have empty corners or other wasted space in your home, there are lots of great ways to warm up these areas and make them part of the room. Some corners are too small to accommodate standard pieces of furniture but too large to leave empty. These are great places to add smaller, more delicate pieces of furniture. You might be surprised by how well a small piece can stand alone. Accent Tables Adding a small accent … Continue reading
