I would think that paying Top Dollar and making specific reservations for passes on the specific days while registered in the hotels should mean a family is a priority guest....??? I sure hope so as the hotel across the street is much less costly and paying to stay at the Disneyland hotel sort of implies a family is planning to go into the parks? Tantrums! Screams! And Crying! Oh My! - Blog Entry03 Feb 2006 02:40 PM Thank you for responding Heather--I think I was having a sensitive moment! I do agree there was one of my dear little babies that did drive me crazy with the fussiness. I do recall the feeling of complete stress and thinking that I 'understood where the urge to shake a baby comes from'...... At a point such as that I do feel parents are much better off to set baby down safely and let them cry while we regain our ability to be calm again..... I think the "cry it out" idea is a hot button for me as I have seen a few mom's who take it a little to far in my opinion.... And I have heard a few older people suggest that allowing a baby to scream for a period of time "clears their lungs" which I really never understood..... Tantrums! Screams! And Crying! Oh My! - Blog Entry02 Feb 2006 03:26 PM I personally, feel the age of the crying baby is very important. Tiny infants under 6 months usually cannot become spoiled and typically cry for good reason. With the three of my four children I had the pleasure of knowing as infants I never left them to cry it out! Babies learn their needs will be met by a loving parent through the cycle of our meeting their needs. Sometimes young infants do need more holding and contact with a loving caregiver. I don't believe that holding, rocking or providing safe arms for very tiny infants has anything to do with later tantrums and demanding habits. A child who can trust the caregiver to meet their needs may actually have fewer reasons to throw a fit because a foundation of met needs has been built. Smucker's Uncrustables - Blog Entry01 Feb 2006 11:40 PM Well, I saw these products a few years back and bought a box.... The price is way too much to say the least! But, the Kids just love them soooo much. I had a great idea and tested it out--what do you know it worked! Those Cookie Cutters are not only great for Christmas Cookies I have found I can make my OWN Uncrusted PB&J's and stick them in the freezer right in the little baggies! Not only that but for the younger children they can be made smaller in size or several little ones.... On Sunday nights I whip out a whole week of PB&J's put them in the little baggies and stick them in the freezer! At first I was worried they might be soggy or end up not 'as good' but if that has been a problem my 8 and 4 year olds have not mentioned it yet! :) Today was my 8 year old's birthday and her PBJ's were all little Hearts! How Do You Choose A Country? - Blog Entry01 Feb 2006 04:52 PM Actually, there are more then 500,000 children in the United States Foster Care system...However, the estimated number of children waiting for adoptive families is about 120,000 or one third of those in Foster Care. Which is still too many! The adoption choice families make is usually personal and while I agree with faithmylord that the children in America are my own personal priority every adoptive family should feel free to chose the path the works best for them. Children are just Children and some of us may feel lead to adopt the ones in US Foster Care but, this may not always be the right choice for another family. bluetree, I will look to see if I can find the stats you ask for. The real problem currently is the fact that each state seems to have their own methods of reporting and often the stats we do find are a few years ago.... there are great efforts being made to establish a national system for collecting this information but it has been difficult to standardize the reporting and statistics for adoption even in the Foster Care system. Some of the best statistics for International Adoption can be found in the immigration records but even those records are not always standard or easy to compare nationally. Anna Siblings of Special Needs Children Learn Love and Compassion - Blog Entry30 Jan 2006 02:34 AM Thank you for writing this blog. When my older children were 8 and 9 my 9 year old son had a horrible accident and nearly lost his left leg. The rehab and pain he felt changed many things in our family... The biggest change was watching the two children bond in a deeper and amazing way. Sibling love and connections are so awesome to witness and there is something special when we see our healthy child give selflessly... Emotional Disturbance In Children - Blog Entry30 Jan 2006 02:29 AM Great information and thank you for sharing this improved service. I never could figure out why an emotional or behavioral disability was not provided for or addressed with the IEP or Special Services. It is wonderful improvement to see that congress actually supports the fact that children with emotional disabilities or behavioral problems may in fact need some additional services! I have also written about this subject on the Adoption Blog! |
