Every time I buy something with my credit card, I just add it to the line in the checking section, until it's time to pay the bill, and then I pay it! I never worry about what the bill is going to be, because I've already got it paid for in my Quicken accounts! I don't know if that made any sense to anyone but me, LOL, but that's my system. ;-) Havs A Question A Week: Choosing Between Internet Explorer and Firefox - Blog Entry29 May 2007 10:59 AM Eve, I used to deal with (kind of) the same problem at my work - I used Firefox at home and at work, but because I didn't have the time at work to specialize my Firefox like I had at home, I found myself trying to use plugins that weren't there! LOL! Thanks for the feedback! Hava Transam the Scam, Part Two - Blog Entry24 May 2007 02:28 PM That name doesn't ring a bell right off the top of my head, but I would encourage you to e-mail me at Hava L {at} Families dot com, and I'll send you some links of places to do a search about them. On the surface, they sound extremely fishy. I have never been fond of schools hiring their own graduates to work as MTs for them. They don't have to be good - their students can be horrid and still be hired by the school, obviously. It takes an outsider hiring to say if a school can produce good graduates or not. And if the school cannot, even if you get a job working for the school, what happens when you want to move on to another MT company? No one will hire you. You have to go to a good school. Stay away from schools whose main focus is to produce graduates to work for affiliated MT companies or for the school itself. Schools and companies should not be interrelated like that. Hava A Bit of History about Medical Transcription Schools - Blog Entry24 May 2007 02:16 PM RDR: When I wrote this, "I personally attended a school that is well-known for not producing employable MTs, and luckily I figured that out before getting too far in. I only wasted $400 or so," I was talking about At-Home Professionals. Sadly enough, I did go to their school, and I was a "student" there for several months before I started to do some research and found out that the AHP diploma is worth pretty much nothing. So I have a WHOLE lot of empathy for you, and I truly am very sorry. It's so tough, because it sounds good on the surface, but AHP's training is worthless. I hate to tell you this, but the odds are 999 out of 1,000 that you're going to have to go back to school to become an MT, if you decide this is something you really want to do. I was a student at Career Step after dropping out of the AHP, and I found out that there were quite a few former AHP students enrolled at CS, because they had all found out the same thing you and I did, but not until they had spent good money on AHP. It's so frustrating. That's one of the biggest reasons I wrote this series - I wanted to help people avoid the scams and ripoffs that you and I had to suffer through. The good news is, AHP's training will be (slightly) helpful at a real MT school, and you will probably be able to go through the course faster than if you had just started out from scratch with a real MT school. If you have any questions or if you want to talk more, feel free to e-mail me at Hava L {at} Families dot com and I'll be glad to talk to you. Hugs! Hava Transam the Scam, Part Two - Blog Entry21 May 2007 10:15 AM I'm really glad these blogs helped you out. Anything to keep people from falling for this over and over again. It makes me so mad that they are still in business, still scamming people, because it is usually the desperate, the ones without any money and in real need to make some, that will fall for it. Makes me want to walk up to Transam and just kick 'em in the shins, but barring that :P writing these blogs was the best idea I had for keeping them from scamming yet more people. Hava Medical Transcription Schools: Career Step, Part Five - Blog Entry10 May 2007 01:14 PM isource, I'm glad that my blogs were of help to you. Are you looking for a job to do at home in general, or medical transcription jobs in particular? If you have any questions, please ask--I would be glad to answer anything that I can! Hava A Question A Week: Cellphones vs Landlines - Blog Entry24 Apr 2007 07:56 PM Hi Mom!!! It's good to see you on here!! :-) I have heard a lot of people have those same problems with Voip, so I know you're not alone in that. Surprisingly, it has been my cable Internet that has been giving me fits lately. For $50 a month, it ought to be a lot more stable than it is. It's up, it's down, it's up, it's down. I keep thinking that I need to change ISPs, but then inertia takes over and I never do. It sure is frustrating though, especially considering my job, and the fact I cannot work from home if I have no Internet. Perhaps I should put it on my to-do list--then maybe it'll get done! :-P Havs A Question A Week: Cellphones vs Landlines - Blog Entry23 Apr 2007 10:31 AM That's true. I have heard some good things about Voip, and some bad things--do you use it? Do you notice a difference in the clarity of the call? I've heard that sometimes the phone calls aren't clear, that you get static on the line. I would love to hear feedback on that too! Havs Active Words: A Fantastic Program and a Real Time Saver - Blog Entry19 Apr 2007 08:58 AM FYI: My blogs on AW got picked up by AW--if you go to the review section of their website (http://www.activewords.com/reviews.html) you'll see the top of the list is this very blog! How cool is that! :-) Hava The Forever Stamp Goes on Sale Today - Blog Entry17 Apr 2007 07:14 PM I don't remember it raising this much either. I think you hit it right on the head: E-mail and spam has replaced letters and junk mail, and there isn't nearly as much mail going through the post office now that there was before. I'm glad to see the forever stamp put into place. Hava |
