I have written an entire series on blogging for Families so the next time Lisa has openings and people are asking me about how to become a blogger for Families, I can just direct them to this thread. I hope I am covering everything I need to. If y'all see I am leaving something out, just tell me--I would be more than happy to write another blog/edit my blogs, whatever. And it's too true how wonderful the flexibility is here at Families. It is only the sixth of February, and I have already written almost all of the blogs required for the month--if I actually started working tonight instead of playing around on the Internet :-P I could have the blogs for the month done by tonight. What a great feeling! Have a good one, all! Havs An Easy Way to Make Some Money--Expires January 31st 2007! - Blog Entry05 Feb 2007 06:50 PM Just as an update: I have received payment for the reviews I posted. They have also extended the deadline for when the reviews can be written, to February 28 (the reviews written in Feb. will be paid in March.) They have changed the pay, however, to $0.50 to $1.50, so you could possibly be paid less. Good luck to all! Havs What is the Right Job for You? - Blog Entry05 Feb 2007 06:44 PM Wow, thanks for the feedback, Levi. You are exactly right--many times, I see people giving others praise even when it really wasn't deserved. Now, I'm not one for kicking someone when they're down, but there is a difference between praising them for screwing up, and giving encouragement to them that they can do better. Anyway, thanks again for the comment. I'm glad you liked the blog! :-) Havs Think You Have What it Takes to Become a Families.com Blogger? - Blog Entry05 Feb 2007 06:41 PM Actually, Levi, this is the first blog in my week-long series on how to become a Families blogger. I have lots more to come, don't worry! If by Saturday night, you still have questions about the application process, please tell me, and I will make sure to write another blog and/or give you a quick answer via the comment section. But my review is rather extensive, so I don't think you'll have any questions by time I'm done. You never know though. ;-) Thanks for reading! Hava The Pitfalls to being an Independent Contractor - Blog Entry05 Feb 2007 06:36 PM Yeah, and I think that balancing act is just about the most difficult in the world to accomplish. It seems like you can go through a feast and then you're onto a famine in the blink of an eye. IC work is so different from the typical 9-5 job that many people who have only worked the 9-5 have a hard time understanding the IC world. I know I did before I quit the 9-5 world and tried my hand in the IC stuff. It was a real wake-up call for me! It has great benefits, but also horrible disadvantages. Thanks for reading! Havs Think You Have What it Takes to Become a Families.com Blogger? - Blog Entry04 Feb 2007 01:20 PM Wow! Thank you very much! It's a lot of fun to write for Families--I am very lucky to have this job. :-) Havs What is the Right Job for You? - Blog Entry31 Jan 2007 09:29 PM Thanks for the feedback, Linda. I think it's crazy how many people simply rely on others to make things happen. Tell me how to do this. Tell me how to apply. Tell me where to go to school. Tell me...Hold my hand...Guide me...Give me advice... After a while, it just gets to the point where you want to hit someone over the head and say, "Figure it out yourself for once!" :-P Have a great night! Havs PS I *like* the words "accountability" and "initiative." I think that's exactly what's missing in many people's lives. Thanks again for the feedback. :-) Don't Quit Your Day Job - Blog Entry25 Jan 2007 01:11 PM Yes, I like being at home and I enjoy my weekends when I can just laze around the house, but for me, it just wasn't a good fit for me to be home full-time. I still read the WAHM forums and still dream about being able to sleep in until ten whenever I want, but then I shake myself and remind myself: I don't want to do this! LOL! Thanks for feedback ~ Have a good one! Havs The Military Commissary - A Part of Your Benefits - Blog Entry20 Jan 2007 12:05 PM My dad was in the Marines for 20 years, and so growing up, I went shopping with my mom at the commissary every Friday. I didn't know that you could buy groceries at Wal-Mart or Albertsons or Fred Meyer until my father retired and we moved back to Idaho where the closest commissary was an hour away. Suddenly we were going to all of these new stores that I had never known existed before! LOL! I still miss shopping at the commissary, because yes, the prices there are incredible. Makes me wish I still had a military ID.... Thanks for bringing back the good memories! Havs How to Stay Healthy at the Office - Blog Entry17 Jan 2007 09:01 PM Josh, I take Airborne in the evening and the morning when I feel like I could be coming down with something, and thus far it seems to have helped. I felt pretty cruddy yesterday, but I didn't actually get sick--this morning, I woke up feeling just fine. So maybe it really does help, who knows. Doug was also getting sick, but I made him drink Airborne and he too is feeling better. Maybe it's in our heads, who knows... Kori, I just bought some oranges tonight to bring to work. Great minds and all that. Hopefully I can make it the rest of the winter without the sniffles--wouldn't that just be grand?!! Havs |
