I've never had two kids at opposite ends of the house before, but for the longest time -- my daughter insisted on announcing when she had to go to the bathroom. Then she would wait expectantly for me to reply. If I didn't, she would shout it -- then I would say "Okay, go ahead." It took me a year to convince her she didn't need to get my Okay to actually use the bathroom once she mastered it. Marriage should provide you with a safe haven, a trusted friend, advisor and companion. Of course there is no such thing as perfect, yet our culture is filled with these references and ideas.
