I can tell you that when you have multiple animals, the overhead for carrying the insurance is too high. But those pet insurance plans are working on multiple animal families. We have all of our dogs on insurance and we're carrying a cost of about $80 or thereabouts a month. That works out to being near a $1000 a year, but we're saving over $500 a year in flat regular medical fees every year and that doesn't count emergencies and special situations. Not to mention that it lowers dramatically the spiked costs to the budget. Using RSS feeds on Families.com part 1 - Blog Entry24 Feb 2006 02:44 PM Excellent descriptions and explanations for using RSS Feeds. Very well done! Heather Fitness and Marriage Blogger Exercising Pain Away - Blog Entry21 Feb 2006 09:02 PM That's great Lisa! Walking will release tension in your body, you'll stand up straighter which will also take a tremendous amount of pressure off your lower back. Exercise also floods the body with endorphins and increases the blood supply to the extremeties. Glad to hear it helped! The Healing Power of Pets - Blog Entry21 Feb 2006 03:15 PM As the proud mother of five cats, five dogs and one horse, I can truly appreciate where you're coming from Fran. I rescued a kitten when I was six years old and I had him for 9 years. He was there with me through some very tough times. When he died, he took a piece of me with him. My current oldest cat just turned 18 and I've had him since he was a kitten. They are very much members of my family and my daughter refers to them as big brother and little brothers depending on their age in relation to her. Heather Fitness Blogger. Marriage Blogger. Responding to Bids - Blog Entry20 Feb 2006 06:49 PM Aimee, That's good that they can ask that question and it's a good one to ask. They are reaching out to accept the bid, but they want to know what your expectations are for it. So I can appreciate that! Thanks for sharing. Heather States Banning Same-Sex Marriage - Blog Entry17 Feb 2006 12:32 AM I don't support any bans on marriage whether it is same-sex, mixed race or mixed religion. It's not a matter of morality. It's not a matter of freedom of religion. It's not a matter of freedom of speech. It's a matter of enumerated powers. The government should not have the power to dictate what constitutes a union of two people. Overweight and Invisible - Blog Entry16 Feb 2006 08:13 PM Lisa, I've been there. I'm still technically overweight. Yet I'm in excellent physical shape. In fact, my doctor made a comment at a check-up not long ago that startled me. "You are in remarkable health for someone who doesn't take care of herself." I told my doctor I found that insulting. I work out five to six days a week. I eat healthy foods. I have been losing weight steadily, in small increments, but I've dropped five dress sizes now and I'm in better physical shape at the moment than I was when I had my daughter five years ago. He seemed to recognize his error when I pointed it out and then he said, "Well I was just looking at the weight." I said, "That's your problem. I look at the person, not the weight." Frank Sinatra: Old Blue Eyes Never Left! - Blog Entry16 Feb 2006 12:00 PM The day Sinatra died, I was in my car driving somewhere. The radio host came on and said something like "It's a sad day for all of us today, Frank Sinatra, at the age of 82, has passed away." They spoke a little about him, but then they played "My Way." That has always been one of my favorite Sinatra songs and I grew up listening to Sinatra because my grandmother was such a fan. I cried that day listening to My Way. While he came generations before my time, his legacy is still present today. Ask anyone who saw the remade Ocean's 11. Community Service for Kids - Blog Entry15 Feb 2006 04:38 PM Diana, This is a great idea. My daughter and I donate all of her old toys and clothes to local charities and schools. It's one of her favorite things to do when she knows we're giving her clothes to someone who needs them!
