Should Homeschoolers Compete against Other Students? - Blog Entry

If it's funded by public money -- i.e. property tax money and you pay property taxes? Your kids should be allowed to participate. I lived in apartments growing up and I went to public funded schools that were supported by property tax money -- should I not have been allowed to go? I think their choice of words "would be unfair to the public school kids" doesn't bode well for their own personal opinions of public school, but that's me.

Have Your Even Felt Jealous of Your Child's Other Parent? - Blog Entry

I'm jealous of how fast my daughter will listen to her dad. She rarely goes head to head and debates an issue with him --even when she knows she's going to lose the argument with me, she loves to argue the points of it. So it can be frustrating.

No More Direct To Video Sequels - Blog Entry

I am just so relieved they never made a sequel to Sleeping Beauty. I know my daughter enjoys the plethora of movies featuring characters she enjoys, but when you sacrifice quality for quantity -- eh. And I thought you'd appreciate the idea of better quality movies all the way around.

In a time that seems so very far, far away now, I remember walking into my health class for the first time and seeing this HUGE poster on the back wall. It was actually a beautiful picture of a woman in shadowed silhouette and she was obviously pregnant. There were some white words that said quite casually, "Getting Pregnant Is Like Being Grounded For the Next Eighteen Years"

I have NEVER forgotten that poster and it had more of an effect on my choices than anything else. So yes, very good topic here, Karri.

Disney Teams Up With Scholastic - Blog Entry

I hope there is a place for both. Because I'm not giving up my books. I tried e books when they first became the rage and honestly, I can't read reams of stuff like that on my computer or PDA -- I need the feeling of the book in my hands and I love being able to take the book anywhere to snuggle and read -- somehow a PDA or handheld seems too impersonal.

She is a neat lady and the story really touched me. I remember reading this a few years ago -- when I was studying the psychology of human relationships. It was neat to revisit it again.
