The Dark Knight - PG-13 (2008)

18 Jul 2008 07:53 AM

Honestly, I think they'll do it for both reasons. The Dark Knight really steps up, it may be Ledger's final work but unlike Brandon Lee's Crow -- this film goes beyond just being a star vehicle, it's about the ensemble. Now that doesn't diminish Ledger's work by any stretch of the imagination -- but I was really blown away by his performance and everyone else. Eckhart really surprised me and I didn't fold that into the review, but I could probably have talked about this film for hours!

Wisdom teeth.

UGH.

I had all of mine out a year ago and I still remember the awful time I had before they came out and the recovery time. SHUDDER!

Should We Have More Than Two Parties?

08 Jul 2008 06:34 AM

I think it's also interesting how many people don't realize that the Democrats and the Republicans are basically private parties -- private corporations for lack of a better term - that set their agendas. They aren't 'public' agencies at all. They have memberships, dues, rules and party elders and leaders. You have to 'move' up in these parties -- one of the joys of a free society is the ability to do these things -- to have these conglomerates -- but it's also about grass roots and the mom and pops -- so I'm glad the Independents are keeping it up. I would love to throw a third party into the mix and not just as a 'fringe' group.

My husband loves this movie and I'm not into creepy stuff so he said it would definitely go into my creepy category so I didn't watch it.

Are You Contemplating Selling Your SUV?

I had a Ford Explorer for many years and traded it for an Escape before I relocated from VA to TX in 04. In the summer of 05 when Gas was teasing the $3 mark, I decided that it was time to cut back and traded it for a VW Bug. If Hybrids were a little cheaper, I'd go that route.

Are We Nearing the End?

I'm glad she hasn't ceded it. Right now the election is coming down to delegates and superdelegates and not popular vote. If nothing else, it once again highlights our political system. The Democratic National Party and Republican National Party are not public systems -- they are private organizations and they set the rules for the delegates and the superdelegates. They control a vast majority of who is elected and who isn't whether popular vote sways or not. So it's definitely making this interesting and I want to see it go to a floor fight. Talk about a reason to watch the National Conventions.

Angelina Jolie Packs Heat in her Own House

Considering the fact that people follow them and her kids are extremely well photographed, I don't blame her a bit.

Fighting Back-Disgruntled Passenger Sues Airline for $1 Million

Many years ago, when we lived in Virginia, my mother-in-law was flying up with my then infant nephew for Christmas. She was stuck on a plane for 10 hours while it sat on the runway. They ran out of water, the air conditioning was turned off, she ran out of formula and diapers and they wouldn't taxi them back to the gate. When the plane finally took off, it was another 3 hours to arrive in Virginia and then another hour on the ground before they took them to a gate and let them deplane.

Old, New, Borrowed, Blue: What Were Yours?

Old, my grandmother's pearls and they are in my jewelry box. Borrowed, the bracelet I wore that belongs to my matron of honor, blue, the garter I had on, also in my jewelry box and new, my wedding dress, stored for my daughter.
