Cycling Outside - Like it? Love it? How to do it?

Thanks for the tip on that. I've always used a smaller seat, so I didn't realize you'd get larger callouses off a larger seat. Makes a lot of sense though! Thanks for sharing!

Fast Food Facts

The salads are probably the most misleading and likely the most disappointing. Even when you go to a sit-down restaurant -- looking at the fat content of a salad can be appalling!

Fast Food Facts

That's a great piece of advice! It really can be stumping when you study the nutrional components in what looks like healthy food. Subway sandwiches are the closest thing I have found to offering a healthy sandwich for a low calorie amount that is still filling. But even then, ultimately you may be better off fixing a lunch bag. We're trying to get into that habit here -- especially if we know we're going to be out and about at lunch time.

End of the School Year Teachers' Gifts

Great tips, Sherry! We're going to do something with the Memory Book or Story idea. We just got her class pictures back and it's the first time she can see herself in a picture with all her classmates. She loves it!

Decaffeinating Your Diet

That's great to hear Kevin! I'm likely going to go back to cutting the excess caffeine out of my diet again. It made sticking to my own diet requirements a lot easier.

Barry Manilow: The Brooklyn Showman

I love Barry Manilow. I've loved him for years! Thanks for writing this Marjorie. One of my goals in life is to see Barry perform on stage!

Home Business: Freelance Writing Tips

18 Apr 2006 12:44 PM

Another thought for writers looking to get into the freelance business, whether you are writing for a business or not -- you're still doing a job. It doesn't matter that you can work from home and sit around in your pajamas, you should always present a positive, professional persona to prospective employers and editors. They want you for your skill with research, your talent with the written word and your ability to deliver on time and as promised. They don't care much about the rest.

The Disney Fairy Tale vs. The Original Fairy Tale

17 Apr 2006 11:49 PM

Great article, Kelly. I've always enjoyed the Disney-ized versions, but I grew up reading Mother Goose and Brother's Grimm. I used to wonder why they couldn't show the real endings in many of their films. My grandmother told me that it was just a different ending from a different storyteller. So I get to enjoy both (except Snow White -- because the high pitched voice put me on the Evil Queen's side!)

What is a "Traditional" Family?

17 Apr 2006 11:18 PM

T.B. This is a great article. In fact, I'm still not in a traditional family. We have one child and five dogs! Still, I think traditional is the image of the family support network. I've always liked the idea that wherever family is -- that's where home is too.

Gilmore Girls: Where They Lead, We Will Follow

You know, I have wondered about Lorelai, on the other hand, everyone has this expectation that Lorelai would be the one to blow it. I think she's behaving in the manner she perceives is expected of the supporting fiance who is not going to blow it instead of just being herself. Here's hoping she comes back to herself and smacks Luke in the back of his ball-capped head.
