A Story About Kai (Part II)

06 Mar 2006 04:31 PM

Thanks Aimee. I couldn't not help him. I'm a huge softy and he really is a loving doofus. My husband says he's a Momma's Boy -- cause whereever Momma is now -- so is the Boy.

One Size Does Not Fit All

They really have changed. Women used to be about lucious curves, now they are about flat, rail thin bodies. I blame films. Seriously, the stupid saying "The Camera Adds 10 pounds" and throw in the gratuitous sex scenes and voila -- the curvier a woman is, the more likely the camera will add weight to her in wrong places so they don't endorse that look.

Still, I agree Queen Latifah is a stunning woman and so is Catherine Zeta-Jones (and she looked fantastic at the Oscars where she sang).

One Size Does Not Fit All

Exactly. My husband commented once that I was the perfect weight and size when he met me. I must have weighed a 120 pounds. I looked at him and grinned and said, 'Actually, I weighed closer to 155 and the smallest I've ever been was a size 7/8. At what I consider my peak fitness, I'm a size 12 and I weigh around 160.

But according to the charts that would make me overweight and bordering obese for my height. I got a big fat PFFFT for them on that.

Internet Safety - Child Predators Investigation

Adam, this is a really important topic. We've got blocks on our five year old's machine so she can play all she wants, but she cannot surf on the Internet at all. We're going to remain vigilant -- but your tips will definitely help!

Work at Home Moms and Dads

Full time work from home mom and I have a system --work task, household task, kiddo, wash, rinse and repeat. I get a lot done in that fashion. My daughter is in pre-school this year and starting in the fall will be in Kindergarten. I plan to adjust my schedule accordingly. Working while she is in school. Great piece.

Pampering on a Budget

These are great tips. Frugal is one of those words that I used to hate. But I've gotten very frugal in recent years. I haunt sales, I bargain buy (I love 10 for 10 sales at Albertson's) and more. Whether money is an issue or not, I enjoy getting a good bargain and then putting the money I save away.

Pet Insurance: VPI For That Four Legged VIP

28 Feb 2006 01:34 PM

Pet insurance is a great thing. I can tell you that when you have multiple animals, the overhead for carrying the insurance is too high. But those pet insurance plans are working on multiple animal families. We have all of our dogs on insurance and we're carrying a cost of about $80 or thereabouts a month. That works out to being near a $1000 a year, but we're saving over $500 a year in flat regular medical fees every year and that doesn't count emergencies and special situations. Not to mention that it lowers dramatically the spiked costs to the budget.
