Some Days ...

It's hard to explain to people that what I do is write for a living. They always say things like: "write what?" or "You can get paid for that?" I know that most of the time they don't mean to be insulting, but then again -- it feels that way. I work on average about 40 hours a week -- spread out over all seven days so that I am not taking up huge chunks of time from my daughter if I can avoid it.

Some weeks, I work more, some weeks I work less. This is why I like what I do -- I have the flexibility to be here and not in an office. I answer to me and not to other people. I work on my schedule and in my own way. It's a comfort to me really -- then someone says something like -- 'if you had a real job' --

Like I said -- just some days.

They are probably just jealous that you get to work from home and they don't :-)

Thanks Libby! I did have the pleasure of knowing someone who thought what I did was easy until they gave it a shot. After that, they never gave me a hard time about it again!

Hi Heather, Well, I completely agree with you! I blogged about the exact same issue on my personal site as well (not families). I did recommend it to someone else, but they immediately saw it was not for them, so I was lucky to meet someone who right off the bat thought "this is too hard", haha. Good for us though :-)
